Hi everyone-
What is the deal with used software? How do I know if its legit or not? I basically just want to make sure I dont get in trouble for buying something I never knew was not/could not be sold. Is there a way I can check the serial numbers or something before I buy from the person?
Anyone know the differences in Final Cut Studio 2 between full, student, and academic versions?
Anyone know of how I might be able to purchase Final Cut Pro 6 by itself?

As I understand it, both FCS2 and FCS2 (Academic Version) will perform the same. The difference is that should an upgrade become available, you would not be able to upgrade the FCS2 Academic Version. So, essentially, if you foresee wanting to upgrade FCS2 should they make improvements, you could do that with the non-Academic version (which retails for $1299 vs. the Academic Version which retails for $699). I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have, but am looking to sell what I have fairly soon, and will take $550 or b.o. Thanks.

There's no such thing really as 'used' software, I mean, you can't 'use' it, in the 'used' sense. If you only use a few of a bunch of licenses, you are perfectly entitled to sell those licenses, as long you don't use them yourself. Using a license multiple times, or if a software doesn't come with licenses, just trusts the user, its considered piracy.
