Hey there.

I understand this site is american, but im from the UK and was referred here!

Basicly I am thinking of buying a MacBook - but ive heard rumous Apple are bringing new, updated machines out which are going to be better and run more efficantley.... so I dont know whether to buy it soon or whether to just wait a while?

Has anybody heard of any new machines coming out? What would you do? Would you wait or just buy now?

Thanks for your help :),

Ryan

Welcome to the forums! We're international here, brought together by our interest in Macs. In fact, I'm from Canada! :D

Anyways, about the MacBooks, no one knows for sure, but with Macworld San Francisco this coming week, you'd best wait and see what Steve J will announce Tuesday morning. If there were events farther away, I'd suggest buying when you really need it, but since MWSF is so close, you don't want to miss out on any sweet updates.

Best of luck!

Gasp! Steve Jobs is Apple's CEO and founder and every year at about this time he gets on stage in San Francisco and preaches to the collection of Mac users assembled about what Apple will be doing in the coming year. It really is a ritual for many people (me included). Last year he introduced the iPhone, which, I'm told, took the mobile phone market by storm.

Macworld San Francisco is an Expo showcasing many products and services available to the Macintosh user base. Nearly all the big names show up with demos and product unveilings (Adobe, Microsoft, Panic, etc.) and it is open to the public if you can afford the crazy entrance fee. Some day I will be there.

Hope that explains it for you, and on Tuesday you can read the "liveblog" on Macworld and find out exactly what is being announced as it happens!
