Hi

PocketMac Version 1.0 (1.0.9)

I just installed Microsoft Office:mac 2008 Home & Student Edition. I had previously been using Microsoft Office:mac 2004 Home & Student Edition with PocketMac for BlackBerry with my BlackBerry Curve 8310 to synchronise my Entourage contacts & calendar. It worked fine with MS Office 04 but since installing MS Office 08, on synchronisation neither the contacts nor the calendar cross from my BlackBerry to my Entourage programme & I get this error message displayed...

"PocketMac SyncManager Warning(s)

[01:25:12.742] Could not lcoate the Microsoft Entourage Office Synchronization Tool.
[01:25:34.942] Could not lcoate the Microsoft Entourage Office Synchronization Tool."

How can I rectify this and transfer my information from my BlackBerry to my Mac & Entourage?

i have a not so elegant work around...first sync entourage with ical & address book...then set pocketmac to sync with ical & address book...this will do it by using the mac apps as a bridge between entourage 2008 & your blackberry...kinda retarded, but we are dealing with microsoft..

leduc, you're correct, this is currently the only way to sync BlackBerry with Entourage right now. Thanks. This is PocketMac's response:

"Sorry to hear you are having trouble with PocketMac.

Office 2008 will require an update of PocketMac for BlackBerry. I do apologize for the inconvenience. I will let you know as soon as an update is available.

Please let me know if you have any other questions,
have a great day!

Hello Steve Z. thanks for the info, do you know when this update will be available for PocketMac so I can synch my Blackberry with Entourage 2008? Is it days/weeks/months away?

Cheers...el

If anyone has an update to this issue, I'd love to know.

I just installed Pocket Mac Version 1.0 (1.0.9) to sync my BlackBerry 8830 that I downloaded from (http://www.discoverblackberry.com/discover/mac_solutions.jsp).

I got the following error messages when I tried to sync:
[09:49:29.228] Could not lcoate the Microsoft Entourage Office Synchronization Tool.
[09:49:53.017] Could not lcoate the Microsoft Entourage Office Synchronization Tool.
[09:49:59.110] Could not lcoate the Microsoft Entourage Office Synchronization Tool.
[09:50:03.888] Could not lcoate the Microsoft Entourage Office Synchronization Tool.

So I contacted Verizon. They told me they are having the same problem, but that they are not doing anything to prevent the synchronization. They suggested another application called The Missing Sync. Does anyone know if this application works properly?

I called them because the BlackBerry website suggested that any issues might be the result of the service provider with this comment:

*Check with service provider for availability, roaming arrangements and service plans. Certain features outlined herein require a minimum version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server software and/or BlackBerry handheld software and may require additional development for access to corporate applications.

The PocketMac website (http://www.pocketmac.net/products/pmblackberry/) includes the following system requirement:
Only For Entourage Synching Options: Entourage 10.1.6 Or Higher
I'm running Microsoft Entourage:mac20008, Version 12.0.1 (080305)

I contacted the BlackBerry technical support and got the following response:
I would like to advise that PocketMac does not support Office 2008 for Mac.

When I requested information on any planned future releases, I got the following response:
As of right now there is not any news about a new updated version of Pocket Mac for BlackBerry to be released.

If they provide a synchoronization solution for Outlook 2007, why not Entourage2008.

I'm going to check out the synchronization suggested earlier in the posts.

Do I need to do anything more than check the following in Entourage:
Synchronize events and tasks with iCal and .mac
Synchronize contact with Address Book and .mac

Do I need to click on anything to make the synchronization happen? Or does it just happen automatically?

Because there are a lot fewer Macs out there running Entourage 2008 then there are Windoze PeeCees running Outlook 2007...meaning that there would be a lot more people whining if they did not update for Outlook 2007 than the are for not updating Entourage 2008. It all comes down to the bottom line. Unless there is more of a financial incentive for them to do something, then they either will not do it or take longer to do it.

when you synch entourage to ical & address book - do you combine everything, replace everything in entourage or replace everything in ical and address book?

Same problem with me. PocketMac say they are testing a solution and will release it soon. Anybody knows another developer who solved this problem? Thanks

This is the main reason I haven't upgraded my Office 2004 yet.

If you are looking for other soluions to this instead of waiting for PocketMac, you could look at Missing Sync.

I'm looking at switching my office computer to a Mac from a PC, but the one stumbling block is my BlackBerry. I tested my BB on a MacBook Air (running Entourage 2008) and I encountered some synching problems; specifically, email I sent using Entourage did not show up as sent mail on my BlackBerry (it does when I use Outlook). the ISP I use to host my Microsoft Exchange Server service said there was nothing that could be done. This synching problem is a "known issue" and until a patch is issued, no fix is available. But I've been doing some digging and found some programs like PocketMac and I'm not sure if they fix this problem or not. I appreciate any light you can shed on whether this synching issue can be worked out.

I to have had issues with syncing entourage 2008 and my BB. Goto http://iceweb.com/store_icemail.asp.

If a link is not above search for "iceweb" in google and goto the icemail tab there lies the answer to your problem.

This is the real fix get your calendar and addresses up to date. Pocketmac and mark/space just can't help business people with this problem but I found a company that can. Please pass along I was lucky to stumble across this site.
