When I choose to copy an address in received email in Apple’s Mail to my Address Book the first and last names are reversed. In other words John Jones copies as Jones John. I cannot find any preferences in either program that will correct this behavior. Any idea how to correct this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Obvious question perhaps but do you have the Address Book sorted by last name? This would make it seem like Mail / Address Book are operating correctly.

I thought of that so I switched the order in address book and when I copied from Mail it was wrong in address book but in the opposite way. Strange huh? So if I sort by first/last mail copies it last/first and visa/versa.

Actually in the Address Book in Preferences it has:
Show first name Before last name
Following last name
Sort by Last Name -or- First Name

With all these options you should be able to get what you want.

Question: In the Mail.app are you:
Copy Address
Add to Address Book
?

I control-click on the address in Mail and select “Copy to address book”. I then select “show in address book”. It is then the I find the address backwards. If you can help I would appreciate it.

I have been notified by others on the Apple discussion board that this issue is a bug. Thanks to those who made suggestions. I have tried everything I could think of without success. I can only hope in 10.5.2 that this will be corrected.
