I'm having this issue with VMWare Fusion:
First of all, my setup, I'm running on a 2GHz Core 2 Duo White MacBook with 2 GB... I installed windows on Boot Camp and use the bootcamp install for Parallels and VMWare, why you wonder? because depending on my current needs I use one of the three options, most of the time it's Parallels.
Yesterday I was working on some webservice thing on Java 1.6, given some problems with the Apple JDK Developer Preview, I decided to work on Windows. On parallels it wouldn't even open a connection to the webservice port, so I suppose it's a hidden security option on parallels... but I tried on Boot Camp and it worked, so I decided to test it on VMWare....
I had been working on this setup for a while, but since I shut down Parallels' virtual Machine yesterday, VMWare (1.1) would give me this error right before Windows was supposed to show its ugly face... erhm... I mean, its logo:
Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset)
The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault in kernel mode. On a real computer, this would amount to a reset of the processor. It can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system, or a problem in the VMware Fusion software. Press OK to reboot virtual machine or Cancel to shut it down.
I really need to work on VMWare now, or at least test some stuff on it... I already uninstalled VMWare, deleted its Application support files a few times, restarted a thousand times, I dunno what could it be.... help?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Miguel Andrés

Miguel,
There is a new update for the VMWare software. Version 1.1.1 has been released. Did you try to remove and reinstall VMWare Tools? If you do that make sure that a) you are booting Windows natively, and b) when you finish uninstalling say no to reboot and go to your local drive then open "Program Files" and delete the "VMWare" folder. Once you do that, then you may want to upgrade to VMWare Fusion 1.1.1 and reinstall the new version of VMWare Tools.
Also, did you try to bring this up with VMWare tech support? I use VMWare myself but not for such high level ops so I would not be able to help you further. Again, run it by the VMWare tech support people; they take about two-three days to respond but their answers are right on the spot.
