Does anyone here use their MBP for gaming? How does it perform with newer games like Age Of Empires 3 & Unreal tournament 3?

I just ordered a MBP 2.2 Ghz 15 Inch, and i can't wait for it to arrive.

I use a 2.33GHz 17-inch MacBook Pro. I'd consider it a "mid-range" system when it comes to gaming performance. UT 3 hasn't shipped for the Mac yet, but just about anything else I throw at it is playable -- check any of my reviews over the past year and chances are I've run them on the MacBook Pro at one point or another.

When you receive your new MBP I would send it back or cancel the order if it hasn't shipped. The newer model is due to be released very soon(in fact its overdue) and will likely be an improvement for gaming. At the least, you'll get more power and improved features for the same investment. See macrumors.com, click on "buyer's guide" , scroll down to where the MBP is listed and see the big red letters that say, "don't buy now".

I agree with barkomatic. Send it back or cancel the order. If you plan on using the Macbook Pro primarily for gaming, chances are, a much better model will be coming out any time now.

My predictions are that the new model will get Intel's new Penryn processors, the Nvidia 8800m, more storage, a redesigned keyboard (like the one on the Macbook), multi-touch capabilities (like on the new Macbook Air), among other things. It's the model I have been waiting for over half a year now!

If at all possible, I'd hold out. Otherwise, you'll shoot yourself in the foot.

MBP just arrived today...man it's nice to have a working Mac back in the homestead again (my macbook was destroyed by a roof leak a week ago!) I plan on getting C & C 3 and age of empires 3 today, so we'll see how those run.

As for waiting, i can't wait for a month or more for another computer, but i appreciate the advice, and i'll check that website before i upgrade again (probably a Mac Pro in the next year)

Best regards,
Goat

I got my MBP (same model as you own) late last September. I haven't installed too many games on it as of yet, but I can say that World of Warcraft works great on it.

(Just tried the demo for the new Tomb Radier game on my MBP. Worked great.)
