Does anyone know anyone, or have any expertise with, the recipe program Connoisseur from The Little App Factory?

I recently moved from a PowerBookG4 to a MacBookPro, and had to transfer my files manually. (Target Disk Mode wouldn't work because my MBP came with Tiger pre-installed, but my PowerBook had Leopard, and the Tiger didn't recognize the Leopard as a valid version of OS X. My MBP is running Leopard now.)

Anyway, I got everything up and running except for Connoisseur, my much loved (and paid for) recipe program. I re-downloaded the program from the Connoisseur site, and it opened fine. I closed it, and moved all of the Library files from my old machine to my new one, and placed them in the exact same location. I started the program and received the error "The files don't pass the hash".

I deleted everything -- the program (both manually and using AppZapper), all of the Library files, the .dmg file -- anything I could find on my system that related to TLAF or Connoisseur. Then I re-downloaded the program from the Connoisseur site.

Now, when I attempt to open it, I get the message "The Salt registration file is missing".

I have sent 3 tech support forms through their website. Their confirmation page says that I should hear back in one business day or less. But it has been several weeks and I have never received a response.

Ideally, I'd get my program back with my old recipes intact. At this point, though, I'd be happy with just having the program working without my recipes in it. (I can manually add them back.) I really like this program and don't want to change... but I need some program and will change if I have to.

Many thanks!

kellie -

I had the exact same problem. Unfortunately, this is the 2nd such experience I've had with this company, The Little App Factory. I'm not sure they're still around anymore (the copyright at the bottom of their website says "2006", and their last blog entry was Feb 2007).

I had the same error messages as you, and have emailed them and filled out their tech forms. I've not received any responses either.

I should have expected it, though. I had purchased another one of their programs, iPodRip. It stopped working after one of the iTunes updates. I never got any responses when I inquired about that program (and that was a couple years ago).

It's a shame - I love Connoisseur, too.

Use the above link to contact Connoisseur Support. I posted a question about transferring the application from one mac to another and received a helpful answer in less then five minutes.

Regards.
