Has anyone upgraded the internal speakers in a MacBook?

Everyone knows that the on-board speakers in a MacBook are a joke. They are WAY inferior in volume to any other laptop available.. has anyone taken a Macbook apart to replace the speakers, or make a mod that increases the volume beyond the factory limitations?

Haven't even figured out where they are!

I agree they are not optimal but is there a reason some external speakers or headphones is not worth avoiding the hassle of such an upgrade?

because I don't want to lug around external speakers with me when I go somewhere with my laptop, and I hate wearing headphones... :)

Just following up - has anyone upgraded the factory macbook speakers?
