I have a one year old Macbook running Leopard. I tried to play a DVD (region 1) using VLC media player. Nothing happened.
I've always been able to play my DVDs with VLC without any problems. I downloaded the newest version of VLC and tried again. Same problem. I put in an audio CD to see if VLC would play that and it worked fine.
I don't know whether this is a physical problem with the drive, or a problem with VLC. If it is a problem with the drive, how can I diagnose it? And if not, what could it be?

Have you tried playing a different DVD, or the DVD in a different program?
