My Time Machine had a big hiccup out of the box. I could connect via my Airport Express but when connected through Ethernet the MacBook Pro would not see the device. After a long 2 hours with Apple, being sent to a third tier product specialist, it was determined to replace the unit. Not an auspicious start!
My first impression with the device was that it worked great as a wireless hard drive except you could not mount it until you went through the motions using Time Machine. It would be nice if it was accssible without the hurdles.
Speed wasn’t bad but with 70 GB of data to backup is an issue. That is when I tried using Ethernet and found that there was no signal through the cable. Bummer!
So Apple will overnight me a new unit and I will ship the dud.
