I just turned on my macbook this morning and noticed my iSight light indicator was on while the computer was turning on. It never does that. I waited for the macbook to completely load up and went to Photo Booth to check on the camera. For some reason--don't know why--the camera isn't picking up anything. I'm under good lighting and the camera is still blank. Any tips?

Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info
On left hand side click on Hardware > USB
In the top right window, click on USB High-Speed Bus
What does it say?
Click on Built-in iSight
What does it say?
Have you tried powering down, unplugging for a few minutes, and then powering up again?

I tried restarting it and it still wouldn't turn off. But then I shut down the whole system and plugged in my AC chord and it turned off.
Anyway, the built-in isight said:
Version: 1.84
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Micron
Product ID: 0x8501
Vendor ID: 0x05ac (Apple Computer, Inc.)

It sounds like it's connected and getting power. Try iChat and PhotoBooth, both of them, see if they both don't work.
Try the following procedure:
If the computer is on, turn it off.
Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.
If this still doesn't work, get on the phone with Apple.
Let me know if this works!

My problem didn't persist. I shut down my macbook completely, turned it on, and the problem was gone. Try shutting down completely, taking your battery out, put it back in, and then turn it on. If all else fails, drain your battery completely, charge it, and then see.

I am having the same problem with my macbook. i just got a macbook in december and only a couple days after getting it my photobooth stopped working. When I open photobooth the green light turns on but the screen always stays black. It worked once after the problem started acouple weeks ago but ever since then the screen has reained black. i treid using the truck above, i took out the battery and ac adapter and the put them back in after 5 seconds. i treid it a couple of times but the screen is still black. Is there anything else i can do?

I had the same problem. It freak me out. I thought somebody had hacked into my computer, and turned on my iSight. Freaky.
Anyway. I just turned off the computer, and waited for couple minutes. And I turned back on again, and it was normal. (Don't use Restart, it did not work; only turn-off works.)
I guess it was just an electrical problem, since iSight was turned on at loading; and photoBooth and iChat was not working.
