One thing I found useful after upgrading to Leopard broke iCal syncing in addition to resetting the sync data from the .Mac system pref...
Launch iSync. Yes, iSync. Click Preferences, Reset Sync History.
I don't recall exactly what that "resets" so make sure you've got a backup of your data before using doing it. That was the only thing that worked to fix calendar syncing after I upgraded to Leopard from Tiger.

i would forget .mac syncing of your iCal calendars altogether... it's just plain unreliable. And the more Macs you add into the mix, the more unreliable it gets.
The solution? Try BusySync (www.busysync.com) instead. Not only does this work RELIABLY, but more importantly -- it syncs INSTANTANEOUSLY! As soon as you make a change on one computer, it instantly makes the change on all the other computers.
I have no idea why Apple didn't incorporate functionality like BusySync into iCal, but thank God we have BusySync now!

Hi,
I have the same problem, and though I haven't tried it yet, many people have reported success with the procedure posted on the Apple Support Discussions Forum here:

Hope this helps!

Wow... I looked up the forum post you suggested, and was impressed:
1. by the incredible tediousness of having to do the procedure for each calendar
2. by the apparently huge success of the solution (and huge need for it !!!)

I too was frustrated by .Mac sync for iCal after migrating to Leopard, and assume it is a problem with the migration assistant. The task it has to accomplish is very complicated to be sure, but I found a bunch of old Tiger junk lying around that led to Console reporting sync errors due to duplicate definitions of events, with no actual syncing going on. Frustratingly, there was no mention of error by iCal, just a bunch of inconsistent calendars. Of course I went through many reset attempts using the .Mac panel (not with iSync) but to no avail.

In the end, the thing that worked perfectly was to: create a backup file from within iCal for my 'gold' user, close iCal and then throw out all of the calendar events and preference files (I just moved them from where they were, and tossed them later). I simply opened the backup file by double-clicking it, and it reimported my data (for 3 years of events). It seems that backing up and restoring apparently repaired data. (This tip provided by the creator of Timelog, a time tracking tool that integrates really well with iCal; a big thanks to him!)

The message here is that you don't need to do this calendar by calendar. And you can just double-click the backup file to reimport. I did however repeat the .Mac reset procedure to make sure that .Mac was replaced with 'gold data' and all other machines were reset too.

Of course, YMMV. This was the worst problem I had with Leopard, but it was a real pain until i got it working.

I think much of what was done by hand in that forum post is accomplished by resetting the sync data via iSync - I'm pretty sure that trashes all the syncservices stuff. It's certainly worth a shot before attempting that long, tedious process.

FWIW, I also had a problem with iDisk syncing after upgrading to Leopard that required a similar cleaning of sync caches. It seems that the Migration Assistant doesn't handle that stuff well.

I've been having the same problem and when I ask the Mac store in AZ about it, we're told we need to buy "Time Capsule" for it to work properly again. We of course doubt this, but it's clearly reflecting Apple's push to have your money or their level of supervisors and what they're telling their employees to do!
We're no closer to to a resolve, and we're strongly considering discontinuing the hemorrhaging from the downtime we've been having with the latest Safari updates and with Leopard as a whole. So much effort and money was put into iPhone and to get it to market to fatten the Apple bank that much more important things were neglected like the primary OS.
Hey Apple if your boy Al Gore the "inventor" of the Internet were to have problems with his Apple investments would you continually cut him off too?
