pkay, you are so right. How you learn to use the gear you have is very important. And don't worry, I won't be holding any juicy tips back. I'll be posting any info that I have that might help someone else.
I'm even going to have my presets for Guitar Rig and other apps available, as well as amp and mic settings if anyone wants those.

Thanks maineguy, it's always nice to see your comments on the music stories I do.
I'll be doing some long distance stuff myself (that's another blog entry), but not with a different OS. You are in for some interesting times yourself -- please keep us up to date.

I luv hearing these kind of stories. Myself and my writing/producer partners have been working on my album also. It was supposed to be released in 2007 but major label issues stalled it. And I have to say that even though back in 2007, I was very unhappy with my label and management company, I'm glad the situation happened. I've totally "cleaned house", took a longer than expected hiatus and self-exiled myself from those people and devices that hinder success. It was a long process that has really worked out. My only issues that I had concern with was deciding which to use, Logic Studio 8 or Protools? (I used both!!) I wish you the best and please keep us posted on your release.

With all these music guys in one place at one time, I'm looking for advice and I'm going to take advantage of the situation!
I need a 2 in firewire interface, and I keep coming back to the Mackie Satellite. Seems like everyone has high praise for the Onyx pre-amps, and the whole removable pod thing seems cool. Have any of you had any experience with it? Or, other suggestions??

I don't know if any of you budding recording stars out there know of the subscribe-able Podcasts that are available from TutorialDepot.com. They have great tips and hints on the usage of Digital Performer, Logic Studio, Pro-Tools and a bunch of other recording tips for recording drums, guitars, using mics yada yada.... They come in podcast form so you can make your iPod or iPhone a little video manual on how to get the most out of your software. The Podcasts are more like teasers for the "real" subscription to the dark corners and secrets of these amazing programs... but you certainly can get more then a few tips for free, they come out with a new tip each week I believe... but they also have all weeks available for your viewing pleasure.
Check it out all you newbies... lol

Hey Jim... That's Great and cool that you already have the means to reach a huge audience through the magazine. I'd like to have Apple and Macworld announce my 7 albums!
How about a story of a regular musician-guy building a home studio in the back yard with the help of some friends...1800' centered around one of 5 Macs.
All the best

Hi Jim,
Maybe a dumb question. I would like to follow your progress and learn along the way. My 15 year old son is excelling on the piano and using Garageband is creating and composing some really good stuff, at least I think so. Here's my question, I do I follow your progress, where do I go on the web?
Thanks, God Bless,
Keith
