To msealey" above:
This subject is totally mac related. What planet are you on ?
Do you know what Media 100 is ? Do you know what NAB means ?
NAB is the National Association of Broadcasters and is the largest conference for electronic / video media in the world. www.nabshow.com
Have you ever heard of Apple's Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Studio video editing software? www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/
Well Media 100 is is the exact same thing from a competitor that is well know in the Mac video editing world. www.media100.com
Boris, the original developer of Media 100 editing software has one of the best industry reputations for leading edge special effects software / plug-ins for Final Cut Studio, Media 100 and others. www.borisfx.com
So, please... it may not be important to you and you may not think it's Mac-related, but it certainly is and it IS very relevant to many of us.

DahlBryn,
Belligerence quite unnecessary.
I used this news story as the latest since there isn't a place for general comments.
I stand by what I wrote. A majority of the of the news items lately are of tangential or incidental interest to the Mac world.
Interesting. True. Readable. Useful. But not always mainstream Mac.

To say that a story about Media100 isn't a mainstream mac story is a little harsh. And I would say what you consider to be the mac mainstream a little too narrow. Especially considering I know many people in the video industry whose only exposure to a mac is because they cut video with one.
But to be on topic...
I wonder if Media100 will gain some traction at NAB, due to both Apple and Avid sitting out this year's NAB.

Thank you; what I asked - and I asked it in this news thread because it happened to be the top of the MacWorld list of stories at the time - was whether others had noticed that the ratio of Mac-related to general (Yahoo, Google, Adobe, PS3, AT&T) stories was about 1:$ - and was that what visitors wanted?

As a current and long-time Mac and Media100 owner, I'm glad to see this article on MacWorld. I spent about 25 hour this week on my Media100/Mac based edit system cutting a corporate video. It may not apply to you or be mainstream Mac, but it is to me....
and by the way, as a longtime Macworld reader, coverage of NAB related news is standard...
