A friend of mine, film producer, Needs to transfer one of his short films to an editor but doesn't have an external HD to do it. I was kind enough to offer him my 250GB WD Passport I use for backups. Right now I'm making a disk image of the volume and figure I can restore it again with Disk Utility after I get it back since I have to wipe the entire drive for him.

My question, to those of you who know more than me, is after I restore the volume will Time Machine be able to resume from where it was before I started doing backups or am I going to have to start from the beginning again?

I know that when my Logic Board was replaced I had to do that but I was wondering if the same would apply to this situation.
