I have 2 pop accounts in use for my Mail 2.1.3 Mac. OS 10.4.11. One account is Yahoo and the other is Gmail. Until recently I did not have any problem accessing either account on my Mac. For some reason now my Yahoo account is not functioning properly. Either I can't send mail or I can't receive or both. My yahoo password is frequently rejected. Eventually it will send and/or receive but it could take a long time, up to a day. I need to go to my. yahoo mail page in order to access this mail. Is this a problem with the Mac mail program or Yahoo or my ISP or what?
Any help will be appreciated

Did you pay your annual fee? Yahoo doesn't have free POP3 access.

I have Yahoo Mail Plus which is paid for and the accounts are configured correctly. I still get my Yahoo Mail in my Apple Mailbox but it frequently will take hours and the password is rejected for some reason. Eventually it goes through.

I've had problems in the past with yahoo mail because keychain was reading the wrong password. You might try clearing out old passwords and make sure the ones in keychain are current.

-Hi,

Just for fun/testing purposes you might try doing your mail from another Mac if you have access. Since you know how to fill in the POP addresses it might give you a clue if its your Mac w/ the hiccup.

I opened keychain access and I have no idea what I am doing. I tried 5 different smtp.mail.yahoo.com settings and my password which I have been successfully using for years was rejected.

Hi
One way, that I'd think, to tell if it is a Keychain problem would be if the mail finally worked after typing in a different ( correct? ) password but that doesn't sound like the case. From my experience with infant .Mac era glitches and other email accounts, a rejected password is normally on their ( server ) end of things. I also found a few Yahoo! Help articles that you can read that might help -- :) --...

? Why is POP taking forever? What can I do to make it fast again? - Mail
? POP Yahoo! Mail Plus with Another Email Client - Mail
? Why is my password rejected when trying to check mail via an email client? - Mail
? I'm having problems sending mail in my POP3 email client. What can I do? - Mail

I went to the Yahoo links as you suggested and I changed the format for setting up this account on my Apple Mail as shown. Everything works now. When I initially set up the POP account I set it up according to the Yahoo instructions and everything worked until recently. I would like to know when they changed the format by sticking the "plus" word for the incoming and outgoing servers. They never informed me of any change.
Okay, it is up and running.
Thanks a lot.
