Hi, I'm a new mac user and new to Macworld.

I just deleted my "All Documents" folder that was on the bottom left of Finder. Don't really know how or why I did this... but I want it back!

Please help!

Welcome to the boards and to the Mac.

I am guessing that you actually meant that you accidentally removed the “Documents” folder from the sidebar of a Finder window as opposed to removing the (actual) “Documents” folder in your user directory. If so, fret not, as the items in the sidebar are just aliases—called shortcuts in Windows—for the actual drives and folders they represent. You can restore the “Documents” folder in the sidebar by going to your home directory, click the ‘home’ icon in the sidebar, then drag the “Documents” folder to the lower half of the sidebar.

If I recall correctly, if you remove any of the default folders from the sidebar and replace them, you lose the special icons that Apple developed for the folders pre-installed on the sidebar. Of course, all of the folders in your home directory do have customized folders that are easily recognizable in the sidebar.

Thank you for your reply!

I was able to drag and drop the 'documents' folder to a space under "places" but not "search for." Will that be just as good? I have a hard time searching for things I download. I LOVE my mac, I just have to get used to it.
