Printing in "Numbers" (???)

How do I select a specific print area in iWork Numbers speadsheets? I am used to working with Excel where I can scan over a selection of cells and choose them as my print area; I can't seem to find an equivalent in Numbers... no matter what I select, when I look at print preview, I still see the entire spreadsheet. It could be that I am trying to select specific fields in Numbers templates which by their nature cannot be selected as print areas. Any ideas?
