In reply to mr_rsu--I'm running 10.5.3 on an (ancient!) iBook G4 800 MHz, which is not officially supported--and yet I find it to be as fast or faster than 10.4--which in turn was much faster than 10.3. The only real issue I've had is that Palm software for synching hangs after a synch--annoying, but entirely Palm's responsibility, not Apple's. Occasionally I have minor, minor issues with the Dock, but--not to be a fanboy--they're too minor to worry about.
Upgrade! You won't regret it--and you won't suffer any degradation of performance, as far as I've seen.

Update went smoothly on Intel iMac.
No problems noted.

Just upgraded my macbook pro and intel mac alu to 10.5.3. That upgrade killed timemachine. Timemachine comes up with the error: internal disk needs repair. I have backed up 160g of music on there and am stuck at the moment.
Nice one Apple!

But does the update deliver a 3G iPhone to your door?

I downloaded the 198MB file, along with the RAW camera update on to my MacBook Pro and VOILA! Aperture "quits unexpectedly" upon startup.

It was my external hard drive that I've been wirelessly backing up via TM for months...

and now I get "can't mount backup disk"

I'm screwed.

I'm very happy to hear that they're clearing away such a large number of bugs, but it looks like they've failed to optimise for G4 again.

OS X appears to be getting gradually slower every release.

I benchmarked 10.5.3 vs 10.5.2 on my old standby, a 1.5GHz G4 Cube with X-Bench (for better or worse) and took three readings for each.

10.5.3 was pretty consistently 10% slower in each case...

I can't post the graphs here but I posted them below.

Oh, quit grumbling.

For one thing, there's a new iPhone SDK, Beta 6, which requires 10.5.3.

Can anyone see ANYTHING that this HUGE update actually fixed? It fixed ZERO of the bugs I have been continually feedbacking to them!

Wow, you must really be upset when you use words like "egregious."

Well, maybe NOW Delicious Library 2 will work better? Of these 70 issues, I hope they include the most egregious, that being the back button. Click your way to an Icon View folder, then click back, and you are still in Icon View--despite that folders DSSTORE settings. Automator's Contextual support is buried 3 deep, and extremely slow to start up and do its job. Spotlight defaults to your entire hard drive for a search--not your current folder. Ridiculous stuff like this makes me wish I was still on Tiger.

Apple, why are you being so ridiculous in not fixing the BUGS that are driving me to distraction!? It would take less time to repair the above than it did to download your update! Ugh, this is nuts. Next time I will not upgrade. It's not worth fighting them to fix their errors!

It's not an Adobe issue, it's an Apple issue. Take a look a the last entry on this link:

My download was also 198M. I have an Intel C2D 2.4Ghz Aluminum iMac. Everything went smooth. Why the discrepancies in the size of the downloads? I was running 10.5.2.

Um...which model of AEBS, there's been a few? Is the AEBS itself up to date?

so far, you've not actually provided anything other than:

"10.5.3 broke Time Machine talking to AEBS connecting via that i had a USB drive attached to"

That's not going to be of much help to anyone trying to verify this problem.
