One thing not mentioned after the pricing was announced was how this would affect the pricing of the iTouch, and the rest of the iPod line.
They can't charge more for the iTouch than for the iPhone, and they didn't before (for the same amount of memory they charged less).
The 8 GB iPhone costs $199, and the 8 GB Nano costs $199.
Those prices are still current in the Apple store.
Are they trying to move people from those products?

I wondered that myself(see above). If Apple wanted to move people from a product they'd just stop selling it. Either they're gonna drop the Itouch price when the iphone actually is released or keep it at the current price. I wonder if AT&T isn't subsidizing the iphone a little. However, Apple has effectively undermined Itouch sales at this point.
No matter, even with the price drop the iphone plans are still way overpriced and that is the real cost. Business users are different since their company pays the bill so I guess its good for them.

Everything is now on http://www.apple.com/iphone/
I hate to say it, but there are several improvements I had hoped for in 2.0 that were not delivered.
? No copy & paste. Unbelievable.
? No to-do list, so of course no syncing of tasks with iCal or any other task software.
? I do not see a home page icon for direct access to contacts as was rumored on some sites.
? Doesn't look like you can rotate email horizontally - something I REALLY hoped for.
? Looks like SMS still does not support sending or receiving multi-media messaging.
? iTunes store is still only available for Wi-Fi connections, can't use the 3G network.
? No syncing of notes to the computer.
? No recording of video with the camera.
? It looks like iTunes track information still does not scroll (like it does on a regular iPod) so you can't read long titles - especially bad for podcasts.
Some of these things may be solved by third parties, but it's ridiculous these features are not there out of the box.
The only new things I've seen that I really wanted that they put in 2.0 are:
? Calendar now supports different calendars and calendar colors. When you look at a calendar item detail it has a field "Calendar."
? Save photo attachments in emails.
? Save photos from websites.
? Contacts has a search feature.
? I like the Exchange/MobileMe concept, too.
