Our web development team at work was able to get it around 11:45am PDT. You'd think we only had a window of 15 minutes to get it, since we kept checking every 60 seconds or so.

Unfortunately, not only were there server problems for downloading Firefox, but many of the add-ons were disabled, and the ones with updates couldn't be downloaded because they too were overwhelmed. It's definitely a madhouse!

I experienced repeated crashing on the initial Firefox app launch. After properly closing and re-opening the application, it seems more stable now.

At least we all contributed to the World Record, if further server efforts don't hamper that attempt.

How ironic that Mozilla wanted to set a record for downloads with the Firefox 3 release… and then their servers are not up to the task! Seems like someone at Mozilla forgot one minor details in their plans. :)

I was able to download it twice, for Linux and Windows (I'm at work), from mozilla.org. No problems. I'll get the OS X version this evening.
One funny thing though ... the download page for the Windows version has step-by-step, idiot-proof, download and installation instructions, while the Linux download page is more like "here y'are".
What's the OS X page like?

The OS X page has 3 or 4 screen shots and details how to install and drag to the dock and what can only be a plea to be sure and use Firefox for your browsing needs

I have absolutely loved the Beta Firefox 3 and cannot wait to have the latest one. I really wish Safari would pick up on some of the things Firefox is doing.

I've downloaded FF 3.0 here at work. Does not work properly when used with my network user account but works fine on my local user account.

Yeah, FWIW, I just went and downloaded the OS X version and it came down lickety-split, so, not sure what the problem was earlier that people were having, but it seems just fine now.

I retract my earlier comment.

It's 4:45 Eastern and all of the links at mozilla.com point to Firefox 2.0.0.14. Really weird. I've clicked on the 3.0 link on the records page and elsewhere, but it always dumps out to a 2.0 download page!

I have no idea when mine became version 3. There has been so many updates in the last few days. I just checked and sure enough, its v3. My essential extensions have also been updated and work flawlessly. I was never keen on the look of the old FF but this one is nice so I'll forgo my fave skin.

It 5.00 PM EST and Mozilla STILL only points Mac users to 2.0.0.14! What an amateur job Mozilla is doing on their supposed "Download Day"!!! Mac users need to wake up and smell what Mozilla really feels about Mac users.

It's about 5:12 PM EST now and the page seems to be fixed, displaying a link to download FF 3.

A lesson for others. Don't try stupid gimmicks to get people to use your product. if its good it will stand on its own.
