Thanks Rob. I appreciate your rapid response investigative work on this. It's nice to be able to check here so fast after an update is released before I act as Apple's Guinea pig! I wonder how many updates there'll be before 10.6. Hmm.

yes, thank you!
I also wonder when the next revision of QuickTime will be, if Apple plans on releasing Quicktime X in time with Snow Leapord?

I wonder if it addresses the problems with Adobe apps that were introduced in 10.5.3?

There's a new "feature" in Mail: when I create a new message, on the line where I choose which account I want to send the message from, there's a popup menu that lets me choose which outgoing mail server to use.

That's been around for a while. I think it was new with Leopard.

that's not new. i'm in 10.5.3 right now and that outgoing mail server drop down is there. if you go into your accounts there's a checkbox that says "use only this server" under the outgoing mail server section. if you check that box then the outgoing drop down menu will not appear in the new message, if you uncheck it then it will allowing you to select any outgoing server you want.

According to this Macworld article from yesterday, yes it is fixed. Anyone who was affected by this issue care to testify?

Still no fix for the back button not adhering to the previous folder view settings? Irritating. Seems like I have to resort to Snow Leopard to see any real bug fixes. That's what happened last time. Several bugs were never fixed in Tiger (though there were less in Tiger than I have found in Leopard). These cats have some real fleas. Ferocious? Yes. Flea bitten? Quite.

Well, this update just hosed Safari on my MacBook Pro. It seems that I am unable to access ANY secure web site (including mac.com) through a proxy server. Firefox works just fine but safari hangs when trying to access anything with a https in the beginning.

They haven't fixed an Apple Mail "Save as Stationery" problem with 10.5.4. Below is my reply to todays article at MacWorld.com.

Re: Apple updates Safari for Tiger users
That's nice for Tiger users, but what about Leopard users. Ever since Safari was updated for Leopard, the "Save as Stationery" option in Apple Mail does not work correctly. Text is saved but not graphics. I've called Apple to let them know, but they say that not enough people have complained about it for Apple to bother to fix it. Maybe you could put pressure on Apple through MacWorld to accomplish this.
