I downloaded the software and it only runs on 10.5. Has it said that MobileMe only runs on 10.5 anywhere or is the download link just the Leopard version?
I don't remember seeing that MobileMe was only going to work on Leopard systems. I would also hope that this download would show up in software update.

I was wondering if this was Leopard only or not myself. I sincerely hope Apple is not going to force anyone who wants to continue using .Mac/MobileMe to move to Leopard. I haven't read anything to that effect anywhere, so I'm guessing that is not the case. I've got about 80+ Mac users here that use .Mac services that are all still on Tiger.

I got Leopard on my iMac but the iBook is still on Tiger so that download link does not work on the iBook. On the iMac, it was enough to click on the .Mac in Sys Prefs and I was prompted to download the upgrade to MobileMe.
But it is a bit annoying with newssites telling us that MobileMe is active only to find it is not - and presenting us with download links which are Leopard only.

Coincidentally, having just returned from a vacation I've been trying to publish a web album from iWeb; and I haven't been able to get a .mac login all day. I did the MobileMe update earlier, and it hasn't made any difference. (I've thought of logging out my .mac address and trying to log back in with .me.com, but haven't yet gotten desperate. ;-) )

I by chance snuck into webmail.me.com this morning. The back door has since been closed, but, while I was able to access it I ran it through its paces. The mail client looks great. Drag and Drop worked as it was demonstrated at the keynote. Was a little slow. I'm chalking that up to being not ready for prime time.
After installing this package I can't access anything to do with .mac which is to be expected as it's not officially rolled out yet.
Anxiously awaiting the release.

Same here. I knew .Mac was being taken offline last night to get MobileMe up, but I must say I hadn't expected it to be down most of the day today, as it has been so far. I find this a little frustrating. I hope they get it up soon, because if it stretches out too long, there is going to be a lot of discontent among subscribers.

Hello Macworld. You are a news outlet, correct? The news is that Apple said the MobileMe transition would happen last night. It didn't and a quick glance at the Apple discussions shows thousands of angry customers complaining that they can't login, can't get mail, etc. etc. This is a news story, folks. Apple is not as capable of providing push services as they claimed. People are ready to spend big money for iPhones on Friday and part of the hook for them was push services. People deserve to know that things may not be what they were advertised to be. Of course, it's a major rollout, of course servers are stressed, but still...Apple makes promises it can't deliver on.
