And NetNewsWire for the iPhone is free, free, free, just like the desktop app. And they use NewsGator syncing to stay in sync with one another. Sweet.

Ugh, now I REALLY REALLY want an iPhone. :D But Jason, does it use push notifications to send you the latest news from your feed, or does it require the user to open the app? Would that actually matter if RSS feeds are only checked every 30 min. like Safari (and the desktop version of NNW) do? Does it have a little number badge on the app's icon like the desktop version of NNW?

Sorry, I know this is kind of off topic.

It will be interesting to see if this will be available on the iPod touch 2.0. There is no camera on the touch so no camera roll. However, its just as important for those who write and talk about the touch to be able to capture screen shots. The UIs are not exactly the same, especially if you are talking about how podcasts are handled.
Of course what we really need is a way to do screen movies of the iPhone and iPod touch in action. I suspect that the Arm processor and available disk space rule out a native app to do this so ...
... we need a way to project the iPhone and iPod touch UI to a Mac screen so that apps such as Snapz Pro and Screen Flow can be used.

It should be noted that you don't "hold down" the top and home buttons, but click them simultaneously. As most of you know, holding down both buttons eventually resets the phone.

@garrettmurray: Actually, you hold down the home button, then push the top button briefly.
@natmusak: There's no background anything on the iPhone right now. So it needs to be open to do a new sync.

I have a jailbroken iPod touch and have tried two different screen capture applications. The results are fine where the screen is static. However, I was consistently unable to capture the screen while playing a movie (even stopped). With the movie controller active, that layer would get captured but not the movie behind it.

So, is Apple's capture able to capture everything, including the controller, while a movie is playing? If not, how about movie stopped?

I was trying to document how the iPhone / iPod touch enable switching multi-language audio tracks and multiple soft subtitle tracks. I wound up using a DV camera but the results just aren't as sharp and well defined as I'd like so I'm hoping for confirmation that Apple's solution is better.

Borrow a friend's iPhone for a brief second, take a quick snapshot of the home page, then switch to the roll and the pic and hand it back to him.

Watch in horror as he thinks for a few brief seconds that you've bricked his iPhone! HAha!

Enjoy. :D

Hi Flowney and everyone else:

I just took a screen shot of a running movie using Apple's screen capturer, and got a still frame from the movie. It works.

Pretty sweet, actually!

outta here...
