>. Your email address will change to username@me.com, although your .Mac address will still work as well.
Eh? No, my email address will remain username@mac.com. That Apple has decided to provide an alias doesn't concern me, as I don't have any interest in a @me.com address. I also have four or five @mac.com aliases pointing to my mailbox. If Apple ever considers taking any of these away, they'll have lost a .Mac customer. I signed up with .Mac to have a mac.com address that will follow me across ISPs, not a me.com address.

My MobileMe is finally (partially) working on Safari -- it worked on Firefox first but NOT Safari. What's up with that? Never heard of an Apple product working better on third-party software than on Apple software. My Contacts took all day before they showed up and they still take forever to load; everything else (with the glaring exception of my group webpage which has been out of reach for over 2 days now) came along this afternoon. Had to set the time zone on my calendars twice to get them to display properly and crashed frequently when I enter a new event.

Sluggish, slow, and buggy right now; after the software update (which said it was for Leopard v. 10.5.4, which may be the reason some don't see it) it did a little better and loaded a little faster but still nothing to write home about. (I have a MacBook Intel & iMac Intel, both running Leopard 10.5.4 and both about 1 year old).

So far, it's way too slow, clunky and spare and I liked .mac MUCH better. Color me unimpressed. I'll give it a few more days for them to iron out the bugs but I don't think it's going to be worth the $99/year that I've been paying for .mac, since I'm not an iPhone user and don't plan on being one anytime soon and I'm not an enterprise user and don't depend on push mail for anything but convenience -- right now the iPhone is way too expensive for my budget. The Calendar and Contacts instant syncing is nice on MobileMe but not substantially better or more useful for me than what Sync did for free anyway.

Biggest disappointment I've ever had with an Apple launch. I guess if you can't afford an iPhone then Apple is going to leave you behind now when it comes to innovations. When the iPhone becomes more affordable and offers more reasonable plans (preferably not just AT&T) then I'll consider one.

Hi
Just did and I'm glad it came up in Software Update even after first installing the unofficial link the scavengers found earlier. No problems thus far. The webmail interface seems slow but it could be all of the traffic with all this new stuff ( iPhone / iPod touch firmware, all the MobileMe users trying things out, iPhone activations, and iPhone / iPod touch support concerns ) going on.

It's still not showing up when I run software update but I was able to locate it last night and manually install it on my machine.

So far I'm pretty disappointed with MobileMe. I know Apple is still working on some issues and I know their servers are getting pounded but it's now 6:30 in the morning and according to their site, only the MobileMe Homepage and Groups applications are still being worked on. "All other MobileMe services are online and fully operational." So everything else should be working. So why doesn't MobileMe work like Steve's demo? My calendars don't sync unless I manually sync them and the feature of being able to email a file from iDisk with a password doesn't even show up.

I have been able, to a point, access the MobileMe service since last night. Address book works but VERY slow. Calendar is working the best yet when it comes to Mail I get an introduction screen (QuickTime) and I can not find any way to either bypass this OR quit after watching....

How do I get past the intrto QUICK Time movie, this only shows up in "Mail"???

Any help?

Thanks!

Jerry

My mail pushed straight away. Yes, the demo video certainly implied that calendar and contacts would be pushed too...

Saturday afternoon and I still can't get on. And I don't really care about all the new MobileMe bells and whistles, I just want access to my web mail!

Basically I want a refund for the nearly one week without access to my .mac account or email. All I get is the introduction to Mobile Me without an ability to log on to check email. I really don't give much of a rats ass for the "push" because right now i feel like it's being shoved up my ass. I want the service I paid for back, and back now without delay. I will tolerate the same excuse from Mac that they would accept from me when working on the aircraft they are about to fly. Nothing like fixing something that wasn't broke and doing it on such a mass scale that everything is pretty much in the toilet! Seems Mac with have to quit making fun of the PC in their commercials because they have made a major PC mistake.

I was hoping Apple would let you check web mail using IE 6.

I am a trapped inside a corporate office buiding all day.

My company is standardized on IE 6, and I am not able to insatll any other browser.

MobileMe's total lack of support for IE 5 seems stupid to me.

Totally P.O'd with 'me.com' so far. Saturday afternoon and it is dogged slow. The interface for logging in doesn't let Firefox remember the name/password properly and I hate having to reenter it time after time. My dozens and dozens of contacts are not in the online address book any longer. I use entourage on the desktop, so those are gone until I re-enter them apparently.

Late launch, bad experience and lost contacts...

Could this go any worse, Apple?

Let's see if we hear of Steve ripping some new ones up there in Cupertino. Someone's head should roll over this one.

I discovered almost by accident that you need to go to me.com, not mac.com or mobileme.com. Everything works fine for me once I got there, but why the frak wouldn't Apple make mac.com automatically take you to the website where the services are, instead of an ad for something we're already paying for? Baffling. I too would like a refund for the downtime.
