11. User replaceable battery. With the increased power consumption of the 3G phone many heavy users will run out of juice by midday. It would be nice to swap in a charged battery and keep going.

i love the iPhone and will be getting a 3G shortly.

My Biggest Glaring missing features:
Wireless sync
I have a wifi and bluetooth enabled cell phone and computer made by the same company. One that actually has a program called "Remote" that lets me wirelessly control my Apple TV, and yet, I still need to sync via USB? I don't understand. Or is that one of the teaser features they're intentionally holding back to give iPhone 3.0 a fresh set of customers? (Why put all the features you can in v1 when you can sell three phones to the same guy?)
Video Capture
I have a phone, with a camera, capable of playing back movie files, all made by the company who invented Quicktime, yet I can still only take still, blurry after the first couple weeks pictures with a shutter latency that's unforgivable. Taking pictures with the iPhone is a lot like getting under the black sheet of an 1845 camera. Everybody has to hold PERFECTLY STILL.
Notes that Sync
How hard would it be for NOTES in iPhone to sync with NOTES in Mail?
Online Voicemail
Why can't I log into ATT.com and listen to my voice mails? I could really use that NOW, since I don't have my iPhone with me (I sold it to get a 3g, and they're out everywhere. So, I'm using an old phone in the meantime
RECEPTION
I love my iPhone, despite the horrible reception I got compared to my previous moto phone on ATT.

12. Bluetooth Keyboard Profile. My Apple Bluetooth keyboard is small enough and slim enough to get packed for any trip. Why can't I use it with my iPhone for longer notes? We're going to have word processing apps for the iPhone pretty soon, but they will be useless without an external keyboard.

I agree with the list....but why in the world is everyone missing one obvious thing that the iphone/touch missing (including Mobile Me)????
Why is Apple ignoring the issue of syncing NOTES????
Notes do not sync with iphone/touch/Mail App!
Notes do not sync with Mobile Me!
What good is the Notes app (in Mail or on the iPhone) if you cannot sync them across devices???
That was a hypothetical question...the answer is obvious...Notes app will remain USELESS until it can sync.
It does not take a Rocket Scientist to see this simple LACKING FEATURE!
Does Apple need to higher some people that actually use this stuff???

Also, iPod+Nike compatibility. Why the heck do I need to take an iPod and an iPhone with me when I run?

13- Memory Card Slot
Come on! What a great thing it would be have some type of memory card slot to expand the somewhat puny 16 megs that it comes with max! Especially with all the new apps now available. There are so many options out there too!
I agree big time with the notes function, and pretty much all of the above mentioned items - especially the copy and pasting, #4 the horizontal keyboard and the replaceable battery too!
I too dig on my iPhone - but am a bit surprised at what this latest upgrade left out... My hope is that some people from Apple are reading these posts and get on top of some of these larger issues...

I agree with all of these except #8. It is a widely-held misconception that adding more megapixels to a camera = better quality, and it has in fact been demonstrated that increasing the megapixel count on small CCDs in fact produces worse images, not to mention using more storage space.
#4 isn't a particularly strong point for me either. The horizontal keyboard mode uses an awful lot of the screen, and makes it difficult to see what you've already typed. I've gotten pretty quick at typing on the regular portrait mode keyboard, and I don't notice myself typing any quicker on the larger one.
#5, I agree with, but only in the sense that it could be improved. The predictive text input is actually pretty intelligent, and I've come to rely on it fixing my occasional typos. It does seem to learn; it stops trying to correct words after I've dismissed the same suggestion a couple times, and it has learned some of the words I've typed in that weren't in its default dictionary. That said, I don't know how long it retains the analysis data.
What I would have added here is that it needs to support AutoFill of the user's contact info. Not just in Safari, but all applications. I don't think I should have to type out my entire email address everytime it's requested by a site or application.
Oh, and I wish the "standard" keyboard mode period key would bring up ".com/.org/.net/.edu" when pressed-and-held, like the ".com" key does in the "URL" version of the keyboard.
So far I have nothing but good things to say about the improved Japanese input mode. Although I thought the character handwriting recognition that was added to the Chinese input modes would be available in Japanese too, considering the Japanese kanji are for the most part just a small subset of the characters used in Chinese. Admittedly I wouldn't use it often, as it does take longer than simply typing the word phonetically, it would have been useful for entering proper nouns (names of people and places) that use uncommon kanji or readings, or looking up characters in a dictionary.
One unfortunate thing I've noticed in 2.0, however, is that the delete key in all keyboard modes is now suffering from really bad latency. It seems to build up an event queue, and continues deleting things long after I release the button. I have lost entire emails when trying to delete just one sentence. Let's hope that one gets fixed soon.

Er...what the heck? Apparently if you begin a line with "#", this site turns it into a numbered list item.
The items numbered "1." and "2." above should have said "#4..." and "#5...".

The iPhone 3G feature set is good enough for me with the exception of voice dialing. I live in California where we have to use hands free sets with our cell phones as a matter of law. It would be great just to pop a bluetooth headset into ones ear then just say a simple phrase like "Call, Contact Name" to make the call and then "End" to end the call. "Simplicity for the Rest of Us", Apple, Inc.?

Why Apple, Inc. did not add native voice dialing into the iPhone 2.0 firmware is an interesting question. I am not sure if the lack of native voice dialing is a show stopper for me or not. I am going to wait a few weeks for the reviews to come out and for the crowds to thin-out and activation problems to be solved before even playing with an iPhone 3G at the Apple store.

Oh yeah. And my fkin' wired remote that I used with my iPod Video still doesn't work with my iPod Touch -- and they don't even offer one for iPhone/iPT. I don't care about the radio, but the fact that I have no way to control the music without pulling the iPod out of my pocket and unlocking it is totally unacceptable.
I've been using a third-party app called PocketTouch (via jailbreak installer) over the last few months, and it's brilliant...but it's not on the App Store yet. And if it doesn't show up soon, I'll have to go back to 1.1.4 just to regain that functionality -- or my iPod becomes useless for its primary purpose.

If God himself descended from the clouds and instantly removed everything bad in the world, some idiot would immediately publish a blog article titled "Ten things the world is still missing." What a waste of space!

I agree that horizontal email would be very nice. It shouldn't be that hard.
