I just made the 100 mile trip to my nearest Apple Store (no local service provider either). I didn't want to give up my machine, or hassle w/ mailing batteries, and wanted to be there to plead my case in person, if necessary. My son and I got our MacBook Pros in June of "07. Both of us had battery issues beginning months ago, but I didn't know about Apple covering them until I got the MacWorld Weekly email. (Thanks!!) At any rate, they replace both our batteries free of charge. It was a relief, and worth $240, therefore, worth the drive. I'm so grateful for this sort of exchange of info! Thanks to MacWorld, and all of you who helped me know what to do. I was about to spring for new batteries for the both of us!
