Not really you can NOT compare an iPh0ne or any cell phone for that matter with a dvd player lol dork. A DVD player does only 1 thing play DVD's. A cell phone U rack up Charges so of course you have to get a credit check, just like you would a phone line at home or credit cards. What charges will you rack up on a DVD player? Cable and Satellite is the same, you have to get a credit check sign here do this before you get your cable boxes. SO you comparing a dvd player to a cell phone is not a good one but thanks try again.
Apple sends the wrong signal to iPhone customers

RIght on the money, Phil. As I write this, it is Wednesday night after the Friday launch, and I still don't have an iPhone. I've walked by the Apple store every single day since Friday -- sometimes twice per day -- and there has been a line around the corner each time. It shouldn't be this hard to get my hands on one, and I shouldn't have had to wait until late Friday night to get my 2.0 software upgrade.
Shoving all of this -- Mobile Me, too! -- into one massive launch project builds hype, but it is not up to the usual customer-friendly Apple standards. There's simply too much that can go wrong, too many moving parts, and too many unknowns when dealing with other business partners.
However, one thing would quickly dispel my ire -- a straightforward, honest answer from Apple about what went wrong. If you have the customer loyalty that Apple has, you can afford to come clean. It might even win you some new customers when you do.

If you are still waiting for your iPhone 3G, as many people who ordered them through AT&T are, here is who to call:
Timothy D. Cook, Chief Operating Officer, Apple, Inc.
Ronald B. Johnson, Senior Vice President, Retail, Apple, Inc.
The phone number is 1-408-996-1010
AT&T claims they are still waiting for phones to come in from Apple. Apple needs to hear from customers that either:
A) AT&T is unjustly blaming them, or
B) That Apple is responsible for what is one of the worst product rollouts in American history (I live in Auto country, so I've see a lot of bad product rollouts).

Being one of the people who waited hours in line, noticing no movement for durations of up to an hour at times, then having problems with someone cutting in line (I was at the Edge Wireless/ATT store in Twin Falls Idaho), and even though those of us waiting in line raised a stink about it, and insisted that the store manager kick the person out of line, the person managed to stay at the front of the line. The store manager told us to settle it amongst ourselves.. really not right... I agree that Apple really dropped the ball on this process, and it was quite disappointing. I do love my iPhone, and don't regret waiting in line to get it.

There was a few times that people tried to cut in line at the AT&T store i was at, but the manager noticed it right away and stopped it. The manager took the time to walk the line and check on everyone about every 15 minutes, If I did not see the AT&T logo I could have swore I was at an Apple Store.
