My email is not loading this morning - just the top bar and a blank page. It has been working for the last few days but the red blob telling me how many unread emails I have has a mind of its own and does not reflect what is in the in box.
What I really need, however, is to use my own domain for emails as well, like in Apps for domains on Google. The idea behind mobileMe is great and when it finally works as it should (and stays working for more than a couple of days) I will consider using it. When I can use my own domain for email as well as calendar I will use it for my company. For now I'm sticking to Google

Does that mean I'm still hosed until I get the e-mail?
Yep, I guess so. Just checked iWeb and it still doesn't work. Maybe the 30 days means it will take that long for them to get it fixed.

I have yet to receive the email...did it only go to new mobilme users, or did it go to former .mac users too?

I haven't received the email either. I also just checked my account and it's still set to renew at the same time it renews every year.

When delivering a new baby, the doctor often says "PUSH PUSH PUSH"
MobileMe must have been a breach baby, but now it is cooing and sucking up the iMilk. (no, i am not going to say anything about iPoop!)

I received Apple's mea culpa while typing this post - those emails are still percolating through the system, no doubt.

Is Back to My Mac working? I just tried to use it (first time since MobileMe update) and it didn't work. It could be due to some network "upgrades" at my office, but with all this transition from .Mac hullabaloo, I can't discount the possibility that BtMM is broken on Apple's end...

The MobileMe rocky transition is still an ongoing battle for us. We have not been able to successfully synchronize our iCal calendars nor our Address Book to the MobileMe website for 3 days now. The MobileMe website contains OUTDATED information from our Address Book and iCal calendars. We are running Mac OS X 10.5.4 on a MacBook Pro, with the MobileMe 1.1 updater applied. We have tried all the troubleshooting steps on Apple's website, including unregistering & re-registering our computer from the MobileMe system preference, completely resetting our sync data from the MobileMe System Preference, resetting our SyncServices folder using the Terminal command in this tech info article , repairing permissions, and running Keychain First Aid. All to no avail. Our MacBook Pro has all the current & up-to-date information, but the MobileMe website does NOT have the current & up-to-date information. The MobileMe website has a hybrid combination of old information along with SOME (but not all) of our current information. It is EXTREMELY frustrating! AND WE ARE NOT GETTING ANY ERROR MESSAGES WHEN WE SYNC! The MobileMe system preference says that our last successful sync was just a few minutes ago! But yet, the MobileMe website is NOT up-to-date. We have tried clearing our Safari cache and quitting/relaunching Safari as well. Apple, please fix this problem!

Good for Apple. Nice to see some humility, and a decent refund.
But what about axing .Mac's HomePage? Web gallery doesn't offer many of the cool things that HomePage did, and yet it's getting scrapped from October.
Bring back HomePage, or at least give us its best features in Web Gallery.

I don't know if HomePage allowed comments on photos, but I sure wish Web Gallery did - the only way to publish photos and allow comments with .Mac was to use iWeb's photo pages. And it sure is easier to just drop photos into a Web Gallery from iPhoto than it is to create a photo page in iWeb. The Web Galleries are prettier, too.

This fix will not require Snow Leopard. For pushing FROM your computer all it requires is an infrastructure that triggers a sync whenever iCal or addressbook are modified - fairly trivial modifications (Mail already has an option to send immediately).
To make sure you receive updates however you need to set up some kind of notification service with the Mac to let it know when to pull new data (or something that when it notifies the Mac that there is new data, includes the data encapsulated), and that already exists. To be honest, I was surprised that the MobileMe software update did not require a restart, because I was expecting it to install a system level listener. I have a feeling that they will add the push update to the desktop with the next software update.

What happened to the day when Apple introduced a new item and it was available today. I understand that the iPhone requires FCC approval and that is a public thing. Instead of Apple centering the introduction of MobileMe and iPhone 2.0 on the introduction of the iPhone 3G, it had been the other way around, many of the problem could have been foreseen and corrected without racing against the clock and failing. Yes, I do feel Apple failed on this one. I feel as if Apple has put together a string of failures of late. Not in the products they've introduced, but in the execution of those introductions. Apple and Steve Jobs used to be the masters in flawless product introductions when they did things their way in their time instead of racing against a clock. MobileMe done correctly and as promised (marketed) didn't need the iPhone 3G to be a success. As of today MobileMe isn't what we as Apple habitue nor I hope Apple is satisfied with. Steve Jobs the 30 day extension is very generous but, fulfilling your promises to us Apple loyal within the next 30 days is a true apology.

Hey, here's one for you: in .Mac, you could password protect any folder within your public folder on your iDisk. And you could control it from within the Mac Finder or PC desktop. But with MobileMe iDisk, you no longer can.

This is very bad. A large number of iDisk customers may have no idea of this change, and it puts files that they had previously password protected at risk. Worst of all, Apple has said nothing about this. Not a word.

I discovered this on my own. I depend on my iDisk Public Folder to share work I do with my clients. I create a folder for each client, each being password protected. Suddenly, I have no protection. The work I do is confidential. My accounting files, that I share with my CPA via my iDisk Public Folder, contains sensitive financial and personnel information. Without password protection, I am screwed.

It's not like this is a new service. Apple iDisk has been around for years. So why would Apple take away a function that so many of us consider to be essential? And why, if Apple had planned to do this deliberately, did the company not warn users in advance?

Color me furious.

Oh, one more thing. I am and always have been an Apple fanboy. So don't call me a whiner. In this case, I think I have a point.

All well and good. First, let me get something out of the way: I have owned Apple products since 1978. I have been a staunch defender of the company through thick and thin. I still am.
That said, if I were Steve Jobs, I would fire the person(s) in charge of the MobileMe launch. The managers responsible clearly knew the launch date well in advance, and had the opportunity to inject professional project management to properly develop and test MobileMe in time for the launch. From a perspective within Apple, and not as a consumer, I would be furious. It put a black eye on the company, and probably impacted Apple's current stock valuation.
Then there is the issue of .mac HomePage. As of October 10, it will be discontinued. Completely. I found this news buried six clicks deep in an obscure area of the Apple support site. This has since been removed by Apple.
I personally find this unacceptable, as I run a critical part of my business via HomePage. If the company is truly planning on discontinuing the HomePage service entirely, as the brief and obscure announcement stated (thus meeting legal obligations), why is Apple not forthright about this? On October 10, thousands of Web sites large and small will suddenly go dark. And this isn't news, or cause for a strong reaction?
Look. I like MacWorld and Apple as much as the rest of you. But fair is fair. I think we can and must expect more. It's not like MobileMe was created from scratch - it was built on a legacy of a number of years of code and experience. While I am pleased that Apple genuflected and said "mea culpa", leaving HomePage users in the lurch without any transition, much less a clear announcement of the company's intentions deeply disappoints me. I don't want to whine. But I think it's part of the implied contract that we consumers and long-time supporters of the company have that allows us to request some clear communications and accountability.
I am an ardent Apple fan. But I am not a sheep.

Here's a problem I encountered with the new MobileMe--I could no longer check my macmail.com email from a pc machine behind a government firewall.
There is no chance whatsoever that the firewall restrictions will be altered, so unless there is a trick/solution I'm unaware of, I'm now poor Immobilized ME!

As of an hour ago, I was still having major problems with the service. iWeb created pages, put up long before the transition, no longer load properly with anything other than Safari. I'm unable to delete appointments in the calendar, getting a "server" error when I do so. I NEED the offered extension, as my subscription runs out soon and I'm unable to update my billing information - "server error" again.

I spend a bunch of years doing PR for Apple, and have more understanding of, and patience for, their problems than most mortals - but this is ticking me off.
