I still can't figure out why Apple Won't support Firefox on Linux! Does anyone know if Apple is going to support Linux???

Firefox is supposed to work the same across platforms - it uses the same rendering and javascript engines. Perhaps you should complain to Mozilla and ask them why Firefox on Linux doesn't work when Firefox on other platforms do?

MobileMe is working for me for the most part. The web portion is a little slow - I hope they ramp up capacity soon. I couldn't care less about "push", it's a feature most people think they need more than they actually do.

Read Walt Mossberg's review in the Wall Street Journal today. Pretty much says it all. Not Ready for Prime Time.

MobileMe works fine for me as well. I have three Macs and my iPhone syncing without a hitch, and have for weeks. Even the long times others are having backing up their iPhones is a non-issue for me (although I have only downloaded a dozen or so applications, and those total only MBs of stuff, vice the GBs some are reporting), so I wonder what's up there? The 5GBs of music/videos on my iPhone continue to backup in iTunes without a hiccup in only a few minutes (so the problem others are having probably relates to downloaded apps only).

I've been using .Mac since it was released, and the reliable syncing among all my Macs/iPhone is the main reason I continue to use it.

I do wish subscribed/published Calendars would appear on my iPhone. It's a pain to have to re-add Birthdays and my spouse's calendar events to my calendar just so I can keep track of our schedule.

I agree. .Mac has never lived up to its potential and now MobileMe is a rare bust for the folks from Cupertino. I am the biggest of Mac fans, but I cannot overlook the fact that Apple has not handled this launch with its usual panache. I look forward to the day when MobileMe is the dotMac I'd always hoped for . You know, if Walt steps out and criticizes Apple, something clearly is amiss...

I have been unable to log onto my email account or receive email now for a week. As part of the 1%, (or supposed 1%) of the users of .mac that made the switch to mobile me, I am ready to cancel my membership. I paid the annual fee because I was sadly confused about how reliable Apple is now. Apple has been reliable since the return of Steve Jobs, but the something has changed lately. I have lost business because of this 1% outage. Apple has given me no confidence about when the issue will be resolved. They lost a loyal customer. Please don't buy this waste-of-time product. There are competitors offering free services that are comparable and work!!!

4.5 mice? Are you kidding me? Are you biased? How can you give any more than a fraction of a mouse for something as BUGGY and BROKEN as MobileMe?
Incredible evidence of bias in Macworld's reviewing. It cheapens all of your reviews, and calls into question their validity. If you review on what it SHOULD do vs what it DOES do, that is a worthless review.

Why should "Kresh's" buying advice matter? Especially since you're clearly speaking from experience and not just spreading FUD.

I've been a member since this was iTools. The switch to MobileMe had very little effect on functionality. Aside from the day or so downtime of some of the features there were no real issues.

Sorry, but you're spreading FUD.

Maybe you should check your connections as it's not slow for myself or any others that I know that are using the service.

Wow, more FUD...

Wow, all these "new" users that are spreading FUD...

I've never had any of the issues you are reporting.

I'd also be very interested in finding out how you're getting a "15 mbps" connection, perhaps you mean 1.5 Mbit/s. The fastest service I am aware of in the US is 6.0 Mbps...

(Mbit/s == mbps)

I just want consistency in appearance. Address Book should look just like the MobileMe contacts. The alpha characters as separators look great and the bolding/highlighting of the name (first/last) when you sort by first or last names.

When will they fix the appearance of Address Book?

That would be 3.5 mice.

Incredible evidence of bias in Macworld's reviewing. It cheapens all of your reviews, and calls into question their validity. If you review on what it SHOULD do vs what it DOES do, that is a worthless review.

Jeff Carlson is my friend and officemate, so there's my bias, but I would like to understand how a review that balances the pluses and minuses, describes all the failings, and explains what Apple dropped is considered bias?

If there were an agenda here, wouldn't you expect the negatives would be smoothed over or not even mentioned? I've had tremendous trouble with the MobileMe transition, but it's being smoothed out. An unsolvable problem on my home Mac just "fixed itself" yesterday, so that the final piece of sync works for me.

I'm one of the 99% of MobileMe mail users who is having no trouble with email; 1% of users should be livid after a week that the problem isn't fixed.

This review is about what MobileMe does do -- it syncs, it does it pretty well for a lot of people, but Apple did a poor job in the transition, and continues to communicate somewhat poorly about what's happening and when things are fixed.

Amen, thanks for chiming in, Glenn, and for speaking for the other 99%.

I couldn't care less about the outage.. everything has teething troubles.. and I was rightly expecting it.

However I am disappointed in huge lack of features in the email side of it. For that reason.. I simply wont move over to it.
