This morning, I went to grab my iPhone 3g, and noticed that it had a message on the display that said "Repair Needed. iPhone cannot place or receive calls" and "www.apple.com/support" was displayed.. in the background, it showed the USB cable image going towards an iTunes icon.. and the 'slide for emergency' slider. When I tried to plug it into iTunes, iTunes came up with an error message that said "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "XXX XXX's iPhone" because it is locked with a password. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".

I've tried rebooting the iPhone with no luck. I've also taken the sim out and put it back in with no luck. when I click the "i" icon for information on the screen, it says that the IMEI and ICCID are unknown. Anyone else run into this issue?

Went to the ATT Store.. they tried and couldn't restore it... at the Apple store... waiting.... waiting ... waiting... .I HATE their process of making an appointment to talk to a 'genius' .. hopefully they will swap it out for a replacement.
