Would be really nice if they put some protective memory into the system. Most of the time when an app crashes, the whole system goes down. At first it brought back some nostalgia for the OS 9 days, but now I just get annoyed. Isn't this suppose to be based on OS X?

iTunes reports the 2.0.1 update as being 242.3MB (in the downloads section of the Store). Why the different sizes? Factual reporting error, or something else going on?

There are two different versions.

If you have the original iPhone, the update weighs in at 242.3MB (iPhone1,12.0.15B108_Restore.ipsw).

If you have the iPhone 3G, its update is 249.1MB (iPhone1,22.0.15B108_Restore.ipsw).

Since I tend to be a goofy 'early adopter', I've downloaded and installed the 2.0.1 update. My 1G iPhone restarted normally, and so far all apps seem to be working fine and no crashes or issues. Although I really didn't have that much problem before. I would still like to have more details on the update, however!

I'm eager to see if this fixes the endless-spinner e-mail fetch issue. I'm getting tired of having to reboot my phone to make sure I get all my mail.

I didn't get a chance to install the update--the itunes upgrade broke my phone. I updated iTunes today and then shortly after syncing my phone, it began to respond very slowly, so I rebooted it. Now it won't restart at all--it just shows the apple logo and that's it. itunes won't recognize it since it won't boot up all the way so I can't try restoring it. I have a 3G on order but it will probably be 1-2 weeks before it ships so I'm stuck for the time being.
itunes was really buggy as well, showing me multiple updates of the same app, and downloading them wouldn't remove them from the update section. I didn't have any problems with updating apps until I installed the itunes upgrade today, so I don't know what's going on... other than I have a brick on my hands!
