I am hearing about class action lawsuits against Apple, what about against AT&T? More bars in more places, where on top of their cell towers?
I am paying for a service I am not getting. I am lucky if I get 1 solid bar when using the iphone in 3G. When I turn it off, I get 4-5 bars in EDGE. I bought the iphone because of the faster, so - called faster network.
Besides, does all this complaining help if no one at Apple even reads or hears of all this complaining?

I'm inside the Washington DC Beltway and I haven't had any actual problems, but I am seeing fewer signal strength "bars" than I did before the "upgrade." Even so, the signal strength is still better than it was on my old AT&T Treo 650.

I have updated my software to 2.02 and have experienced no problems at all. Both my 1st gen iPhone (which I now use as an iTouch) and my 2nd gen iPhone 3G have worked well. I know lots of people have had problems, but I suspect those of us without issues do not tend to post...so I wanted to add my voice to the mix.
I do wish Apple would allow us to receive our voicemail through our Bluetooth headsets like we used to be able on the 1st gen iPhone (before 2.0.) I understand from Apple's discussion boards that this may happen in a future software update. Hopefully soon!

I'm having no problem with dropped calls or signal strength. However what I have experienced is when I put the phone to my ear, my cheek is hitting the hold button on the screen, so it's just like I dropped the call. It took me awhile to figure this out (I'm a cell phone novice) so I assumed the call was dropping. I'm wondering if this is really what a lot of people are experiencing? Of course know I have to figure out how to avoid this problem.

The screen should go off when you bring the phone near to your head - it was designed to prevent accidental button pushes. I answer at least 95% of calls using a headset because I'll usually need to go into another application such as the calendar during the call. Using the headset also means my screen (or the front of the case) doesn't get any sweat marks from my face as well.

I hate to tell you but I am not suffering any of these issues. I'm in Canada with Rogers as the provider. I live in a small city in the interior of BC and I get excellent 3G coverage. I suspect that ATT is more of the issue than the iPhone itself although the uncompressed nature of the iPhone data may be contributing to the problem. I understand ATT have had to hold off the Blackberry Bold launch as the iPhone is taxing their capacity!
