Ok everyone...thanks all for your kind assistance. One post directed me to QuickPwn...downloaded it...ran the software and it works like magic . . . simplest thing seemingly. My wife is now using it to surf the web, get email , blah-blah-blah

Doesn't make much since to me to keep it for an ipod touch. If you can sell your 2.5G iPhone for 250-450. Why would you not just sell it and buy a brand new ipod? Sure you cant dial 911 with it lol . But no issue's with Error messages or trying to get it to work if you do a restore. LOL and it looks like if you have a 16g laying around you can sell it and buy a new MacBook...

No way will I part with mine. An original iPhone bought on iDay? We haven't even begun to see its value.
