> How would you improve the MacPro? I know that Intel just announced six core Xion processors. But they just announced them. Be sure we will se a 12 core MacPro soon.

How about lowering the prices on the processor options. All they did
nine months back was to provide a small processor speed bump and a
large price bump. What about blue ray? What about an overall price
lowering for the starting point for a tower that has seen little change
in a number of years. How about a smaller tower? The current iteration is a beast compared to earlier towers that had room for all the optical drives and hard drives of the current system - and expansion slots.

I think, from a practical matter, they are likely running out of significant improvements - but that being the case - there is no reason they have to continue to make their highest profit margins on the Mac Pro. If they choose not to release the middle tower that so many have clamored for, then all the more reason to lower the starting price on the Mac Pro.

Sure, a better price would be something. But just look at what happened with the iPhone and when they lowered it's price. I am sure that they could lower the price, once the new models come out. Personally, I think we will soon see an new form factor. But I think Apple has never simply lowered the price of their current offering unless something else in already in the pipeline.

The Mac Mini is the computer for many customers. Apple pushes the iMac because it's better for them - but not for the customer. And if the Mac Mini had the processor and RAM options the iMac (current) has, as it did a year ago (or more), it would be all the more appropriate for even more of the Mac population and no need to worry about the hassles of a glossy screen.

Yes, like I said, the Mini is probably not selling to good now and days, but a refresh could change that.

Ah yes, the love hate relationship between Apple and its customers continues. The only real difference between Apple and Microsoft now is that with Microsoft as long as it's good enough people put up with crap and with Apple as long as it's not bad enough people put up with crap. Thus endeth the lesson.

Although it's totally unrelated to iPods and iPhones, I can't miss a chance to renew my demand for the MMMT: mid-range, mid-price mini-tower. Give it the power of the top iMac, four RAM slots (two of them empty), 3 expansion slots, and room for one extra HD and one extra optical drive. Oh, and easily accessible connections on the front, please!

And for the true bargain computer, bump up the performance of the Mini, max out the RAM, and sell it for $299. Watch 'em fly off the shelves!

I bought family pack Leopard when 10.5.3 was released and did a complete clean install of it onto my G4 400 Gigabit Ethernet Mac with OWC 1GHz proc and Radeon 8500 AGP upgrades. I also did the same on my MacBook 2.0 GHz C2D. Both run extremely well. My PPC is much faster.

I have an original iPhone, latest software, no problems at all.

Question (don't take this the wrong way) but who cares about play counts? People who care about forum post counts? Is there some contest or something I didn't know about?

It hardly sounds like a show stopper. Mmm ya, I've listened to Rick Astley 337 times now baby!! Beat that.

What is the "right" way to take what you said? You've obviously set out to be condescending and judgmental.

I use play counts to track songs that I don't play as often as others so that I can get them into my queue.

I used to be excited about these, but not anymore.

As far as I am concerned, Apple has put out nothing but Crap since the latest AppleTV and the iPhone 2.0, 2.01, and 2.02 software.

I will not be purchasing any more apple products until they get their stuff straight. To this day my iPhone will not properly update play counts for iTunes. I cannot use regular headphones with the iPhone 3G and talk on the phone like I could with the first generation of iPhone (the old one would pipe the caller through the headphones and use the phone microphone for audio... no longer does that).

Phone crashes constantly (more than ANY windows mobile phone I have ever owned)...

I'm done getting excited over Apple for awhile... just my opinion of course, but they are no longer the great company they once were. I'm more excited about XBOX 360 updates these days.

My iPhone works great. The only problem I have is the slight delay on tap response compared to the fast response with the 1.1.4 software. My phone doesn't crash at all.

I must admit the shine is off for me as well. I am really at my wits end with the appletv and they don't seem to give a toss about it.

The wrist area of my macbook has cracked 4 times and has now gone again and I am out of warrantee.

Not sure when you bought your AppleTV, but if you had done some research, you would have known that the AppleTV was a mistake from day 1. In the world of HD, they release an SD device. They barely have any HD movies, and ZERO HD TV content. All primetime TV broadcasts are in HD, and have been that way for a few years now. The AppleTV cannot win in that arena.

Also, how hard are you pushing down on that MacBook to break the case 4 times?

I pay $250 per month to ATT... i paid God knows how much to Apple for the phone. Apple made promises and misleading commercials. They also forced me to use a credit card. I think I've earned the right to "whine".

If it had been ANY other company I would have called the bank and charged it back with "product not as described". And I would win the chargeback... YouTube is full of "true" iphone performance versus what's in the TV spots.

Your post is a load of crap! Apple did not make misleading commercials. Next time watch the commercial and read the clearly visible print that says, "3G not available in all areas." I have used an iPhone 3G and it works as advertised, when you live in an area with 3G! They forced you to use a credit card? Oh my god, what a crime? So you have to wait to make a payment next month for money that you apparently already have if you are buying the product in the store! Have you never purchased a cell phone before? Requiring a credit card is not uncommon. Since you chose a plan that cost $250, that is your own problem! I pay $60 per month for my iPhone (original). If I had a 3G, I would increase $15, not $250!

I am in Los Angeles and my friend's iPhone 3G works great, even in an office building full of computers. I loaded up a few websites and the download speeds are about 2x faster than my iPhone with Edge. Explain again how those ads are misleading when I have seen an iPhone 3G that does exactly as advertised? Why don't you return the phone and request a chargeback. Why would you do it for "any other company" but not Apple? I doubt you would win the chargeback for a phone that does work.

You do realize that the crap on YouTube can easily be altered with video editing programs, like iMovie!

Next time do some research to determine if you live in an area with 3G before you buy a phone with 3G.

San Francisco? No consistent 3G.

I live in the Haight, work downtown and in Oakland.

Bouncing between E, 3G, whatever that data network is, and... nothing. Really, nothing. In SF.

Sometimes while sitting still.

I love having to wait a few minutes for my phone to find itself again.

And paying a premium for 3G when there is none to be had most of the time, in SF.

Very unhappy with the product.

Plenty of other reasons as well.

I am sure glad I kept my first generation. My coworker had to reset his 3G 3 or 4 times this weekend. My first generation runs fine even on Edge. I am always with in a WiFi network, so I don't miss the 3G at all. I have a Tomtom, so no need for a GPS ether. Funny, now the first generation are starting to clime once again in price. Check EBay, I could sell mine for $400 and pretty much buy the new one for $200 and get extra $200. :-)

Lack of 3G in areas is mostly a service provider issue - not necessarily the handset.

I have had plenty of 3G phones which are absolutely crap in terms of 3G network availability.

I understand that most service providers are struggling to provide promised 3G services across the world currently. It is about time they stepped up and started to deliver services that handsets are capable of providing.

Maybe it's a new vacuum cleaner model that also plays music and video, or maybe it's a toaster with a 3 inch screen, or maybe its a new HD movie iPod with surround sound and a 2 inch screen!
Sort of tired of the iPod/iPhone nonsense. Like I need a GPS/scrabble/camera phone. Maybe Apple will start developing computers or fixing some more OS X problems. Crazy?
