wow, only what, over a year since it came out for every other platform it can be played on? I've had it for my xbox 360 for at least that long, if not longer.
I wonder how long before people complain about it running like luke warm excrement on their apple laptops...

Welcome to the world of ports to "second class" gaming platforms. Still, I for one am glad it's coming to the Mac and intend to buy a copy. I also appreciate a good quality port that's crafted into a legitimate Mac product as opposed to what some other companies are doing.

What? That's going to be a problem? ;-) Well, if it doesn't work on my MacBook Pro, I guess I'll just have to play it on the Mac Pro. ;-) Hopefully, the ATI 1900 still cuts it for titles like this or I'll have to consider an upgrade.

I wonder how long before people stop complaining like lukewarm excrement about the time it takes for a Mac game to be released. This isn't exactly breaking news.

XBOX 360 is a couple of hundred quid, or bout 2 gigs of your ram
Wow, RAM must be real expensive where you live... I can buy name brand 8gb for my mac pro for the price of my Xbox 360.
As for wanting a laptop to play well, this is fun to play on the road, which I have a hard time bringing my Xbox in my bag, along with my TV.

Henry there comes a point for every device, for every product, for every fanbois, where one must hold up the hands and say, yup, its crap at 'this' (what ever this may be)
OSX is crap at games. Its time to stand up and admit it. Come on now. You know its true. OSX and games, bad match.
My eyes were opened by three games in particular, doom3, halo and unreal tournament 2004. All of the totally rock on the same hardware under bootcamp, all three totally suck balls on OSX. Its no use blaming the port. The totally shite halo still has updates for it coming out to this day! And its still shite.
Haha.

Really you have problem playing UT2004 in OS X on a Intel Mac? I have a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo MBP with a X1600 and I can play UT2004 perfectly at native 1440x900 with all settings max. In fact, my settings are greater than max since I've activated realistic shadows and render-to-texture operation by editing the .ini files since these options are not available in the Mac version's main menu, but were later added in patches. I'm pretty sure any Intel Mac with a discrete GPU should be able to handle UT2004 decently in OS X.
That isn't to say that gaming performance in OS X isn't worse than Windows since it is. That's a consequence of the OpenGL render path being shared with the OS and other applications besides games and therefore being optimized for stability rather than performance. Even in Vista, Aero uses a special DX9.0L API while there are separate DX9.0c and DX10 APIs for games and applications.
But, I think Aspyr should be congratulated on doing a native port of CoD4 to OS X. It might be slower than BootCamp, but it's better than the Cider stuff EA keeps chucking out. And there's hope yet for better gaming performance seeing the reports on the upcoming 10.5.5 from AppleInsider indicate that the graphics drivers have been worked over given that Apple has continued to tell developers to retest them through successive builds.
And the article said a nVidia GeForce FX 7300 is required, but it's really a GeForce 7300.

Wilfred it matters not how well you have got it to run in OSX, on the same mac in PC mode it will run faster and better. I know I had it both for mac and bought it in a sale for a tenner for PC. And on PC its no contest.
Perhaps we are sort of prooving the point, we are talking about a four year old game. Try running Unreal 3 on OSX and tell me its as good as PC (Assuming its been released for OSX I don't know why they would bother)
I think it fair to say Direct X rocks and opengl sucks.

"I think it fair to say Direct X rocks and opengl sucks." yes we get the general idea as you have stated this several time here....
As mentioned by Peter, MCW has already mentioned it in tests so...
Since the first Mac it has always been "behind" in terms of games, so yes if you want to play games buy a PC, there you have it now let´s move on
