They may have promised few dropped calls but, with the marketing towards kids through all the games that were discussed for it, they are not giving any promises about fewer dropped iTouch/iPhones though...

All your "marketing towards kids" stuff is stuff o' nonsense. Kids aren't the people who buy the most games.

Well Steve wasn't giving much away apart from "performance enhancements". I like the idea of better battery life and, hopefully faster backups. Shame we have to wait for the download when it's in models that are shipped today. Guess they don't want to overload their servers.

The 2.0.2 update was supposed to have implemented the new power algorithm which did reduce the number of dropped calls. I really wonder if there's going to be any improvement to what's already been done regarding this particular issue.

"Kids" don't buy games. Adults buy games. White males aged 18-35 is the key demographic of nearly every market in the world.

Sorry, but I'd expect a curmudgeon such as yourself to be out of touch as you appear to be. :x

I think 2.1 was the most exciting announcement made at this event.
Seriously, I wonder if Apple is over-playing its hand with these events. When a highly touted event is made up of feature bumps, new colors and bug fix releases, it may reduce the excitement that people feel for future events.
My expectations were already pretty low for this event and they have been met.
Don't get me wrong, this is not Apple bashing; it is concern. The anticipation for these events is a extremely valuable asset, which I would hate to see Apple loose. Just think of all the excitement Sony generated when they released their latest MP3 player. ;-) I don't want Apple to become the next Sony.

I have never understood folks having Safari Crash.

I am on a G5 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-Dimm

Leopard 10.5

Use for business every day. Haven't had Safari Crash more than 2 times in last two years.

Wonder what is different about your setup than mine?

Curious!!!!!

Actually the marketing is towards kids otherwise the vast majority of the games wouldn't be produced for 13! If you think that adults are the majority of people buying the games, who do you think they are buying them for themselves?!? Get real! They are buying them for their kids primarily and that's the ones who's kids are too lazy to go out and mow yards or do paper routes or some other activity to get money when their parents can't afford to give them allowances every week. Having been a kid myself a couple decades ago and raised a couple myself, I know exactly what I am talking about. These so called studies are entirely based off of credit cards that only 18 can own, not on actual sales figures, nor on actual polls taken to find out who the game was purchased for!

Yes, it will be nice to have fewer dropped calls when AT&Ts phone signal strength is low, but what I'm really waiting for is 3G data speeds to improve. I live and work in the middle of New York City and often find data to be MUCH slower than promised and certainly iffier than with my old carrier (Sprint). I often can't get any data signal at all on the 46th floor. That was not true with Sprint.
As I understand from other posts, it is now up to AT&T to build up their system for all the new iPhones. I'm really disappointed so far. Kinda miss my Treo.
