Hi everyone,

I am pretty sure that I read about the following topic already somewhere on Macworld.com but I cannot find it anymore.
So here it comes...

I am using a GMAIL account for may years now via the Mail.app and IMAP. The ton of spam I get is 99% filtered by GMAIL's spam filter. The problem is that although it goes directly in GMAIL's spam folder it is constantly synchronized with my Mail.app because of IMAP.

To solve the problem because I wanted to buy MobileMe anyway I now have only my me.com account in the Mail.app but forwarding the GMAIL's inbox to my me.com account. This works pretty nicely but there is one obvious problem of which I still haven't figured out the answer:

How do I (or rather: is there a way to) reply to emails from my GMAIL account using Mail.app but not using my me.com account but instead using the GMAIL account?

Any help or hints would be highly appreciated!

(I am using Mac OS 10.5)

One way to do this is to also add you GMAIL account into your Apple Mail application. You can get the settings from GMAILs help section. In the POP and Forwarding section there is an option for what you want to do after your mail has been forwarded. If you choose "delete gmail's copy after forwarded" It wont show up in your GMAL inbox, it will only show up in you mobile me inbox.

After you have done that. When you receive a piece of email that you want to reply to, you simply click the reply button. Underneath the address and subject fields there should now be a drop down menu that says "reply from." From this pulldown menu you will be able to select your GMAIL account and reply from it.

Hope that helps you out!
