Coleco Electronic Quarterback was my drug of choice back in the day. Very similar. The lack of tactile feedback here IS bizarre, but good title anyway.

Hey, thanks for this review. I would not have otherwise found this particular game. I played that original Mattel football game as a kid. In fact, I was such a dork that playing L.E.D. football is how I learned to play football to begin with. Actually it may have been the Coleco version. Either way, I'm all for faithful simulations of vintage games.

I remember my Dad got the original version of this for Christmas back in the late seventies/early 80s. I loved it as a kid! I might have to check this out.

This game is great... for the first quarter. Once I get to the 2nd quarter (half?) the game goes crazy. The players move around too fast and jump around, and my score even switched. I was winning 21 to 0 and then suddenly was down 0 to 21. Hopefully they'll get an update out for this soon as the game is definitely a great trip down memory lane and still a genuinely fun, simple game. I don't know if everyone sees the above noted problem or not, but others have also reported the problem, so I'm not alone. I'm running it on a (1st gen) iPod Touch 16 GB with the 2.1 firmware.

Wow. I still have the game. I found it in a box of stuff a few months ago. My kids and all their friends love to play it. Classic!!!

Wow, that brings back memories... I had lots of fun playing the original, but aside from nostalgia's sake, I probably pass this time around... ;-)

Hell yeah.
But the only thing greater than Mattel Electronics Football...

Mattel Electronics Football II

? You can move forwards and backwards.
? You can pass.

Seriously.

I can't wait for this. (I assume it's coming. The obvious sequel.)

yeah I found after the first game the second one goes crazy. But if you are super quick on the Kick/ST button after your downs it doesn't cheat but you have to be really quick. Once you make the 10 or lose on the fourth go for the blue button like crazy and all is well. It's really hard to keep that kind of pressure up for a whole game. It is my game of choice though still. Plus the LED Basketball and I see they are bringing a whole load more. I got out my real original Mattel Battlestar Galactica and gave that a play. Football is way better. Hope these old Retro games keep getting an outing on the Touch/iPhone. But leave them like these guys did in their original format. I bought Missile Command and the Classic is awesome but the updated version seems gaudy by comparison.
