Day 1

I have a newly formatted iPhone!! In ITunes 8, I have checked "Disable automatic syncing for all iPhones and iPods". On the front screen,

"Manually manage songs and videos" was unchecked.

On my work PC, I had only checked only the Applications tab in iTunes 8 and allowed my iPhone to sync with it. All my purchased apps got copied to the iPhone. No issues here.
I came back home, and on my iTunes running on my home PC, I checked the Music, Photos, Info and Video tabs and allowed to sync.

All my application were intact and in addition, all my "home" content (i.e. Music, Photos, Info and Video content) were copied to my iPhone.

Great Going!!!

Day 2

Back in office: I purchased a few more apps using iTunes on my work PC in the morning. Then I went about syncing the iPhone with my work PC so that the new apps gets copied to the iPhone.
(As mentioned, on the iTunes running on my work PC, only Applications tab is checked, nothing else)

After the sync, I saw no music or video content on my iPhone. Photos and Info (i.e. contacts) were still there on the iPhone though !!! I had got the usual message: This iPhone is synced with a different iTunes Library. I selected the Erase and Sync button thinking only Applications will be involved in the syncing as all other tabs were "UNCHECKED".

Now I am confused. Why did the syncing process remove only music/video content? Logically, it should have just copied the the new purchased apps to the iphone leaving everything else intact!! Or, deleted all home content from the iPhone!!!

Please help me. Where did I go wrong?

How can I manage my iPhone with work and home PC?

Your response is highly appreciated.
