ok, so i did the update and been working here and watchign the phone.

noticed that it did go into 3g for atleast a couple minutes, two bars, as i was watching, it dropped down to Edge without showing no service. i guess that is a step in the right direction. now i guess we wait for att to ramp up their 3g network strenght and capacity.

Does anyone else's backup still take a ridiculous amount of time?

How long is "ridiculous"? Mine is much, much faster now. Used to take 30 min now almost 10x faster.

This is correct.

Automatic 2nd alert comes about 5 minutes after initial text.

My peev: I want assignable sounds for new emails. I use my iPhone to stay in touch with clients via email

and the stupid default sound has to be one of the quietest ones on the phone, and I'll hardly ever hear it -- before

manually picking the phone up and checking to see if one has arrived. I want it to peel my face off everytime I get

an email - like my blackberry did. how freekin hard would that be?

So what if anything has been improved with GPS functionality, I've been really hoping we would get some big time navigation apps.
I also really hope this is not a political thing, why can't they give what the people want and not just stick their fingers in certain pies.

I'm keeping a log of my 2.1 update experience here at tengallonbrain.com if you are interested.

So far I'm seeing more bars on signal strength and VERY quick backup speeds.

So have Apple improved how rubbish the pre-emptive texting was where, unlike a phone you just get ONE proposed word as opposed to getting different variants like every other phone out there for the past 3 years?

Everything seems to be working fine. But, I wish there were a way to include subscribed calendar items in the synching.

Got the download and it installed without a problem.
However, none of my 3rd party apps work now. You click on the icon, the screen comes up for about 2 seconds and it closes and bam you're back to the main menu screen. ARGH!

I've had no problems with apps. But to confirm, when downloading apps from the phone you certainly notice a dramastic change, the 5 that I've installed did so with no effort

OK. I installed the update, but don't have a "genius" button in iPod mode.

I did the install from my mac at work, which is not the itunes I normally use to backup and sync my iphone. Could that be the reason I don't have the genius button? Is it something that needs to be set up from your regular itunes app?

Just curious.
