Convert video for any device

VisualHub is worth the $23 for it. Takes all the hassles out of converting. I have converted countless videos, DVDs and have only found that the if the source is bad, then it won't work.
If you want to convert video, go with VisualHub, don't waste time with the others.

I've attempted to take movies I've encoded with Handbrake using the Apple TV preset and convert them in Visual Hub to an iPhone-friendly format. The result is jerky video. The only way I can get smooth video and good quality is to re-rip the movies with Handbrake using the iPhone preset.

I've been using this for a while to convert my movies from DVD to "iTunes" compatible files with a setting I created to where I can use them on any device that iTunes videos can play on and looks great especially on my 24" iMac when played back. I even have them on external drives connected to my Airport where I can watch them at any time on any device that can connect to it. Of course iTunes doesn't like to cooperate so much in finding them but, by deleting the movies folder and replacing it with a shortcut to the drives and activating them via the Login prefrence in the Accounts preference pane I have them ready to go all the time on all my systems and Front Row finds them just fine, which is how I prefer to use my media. I only open iTunes to purchase DRM free titles every now and again, (since they still don't have anything in HD, at least not in movies, that can be accessed from it!)

I use Handbrake whenever I can, but it only works for most movies and some TV shows. Its deinterlacing abilities are very limited. For instance, it doesn't let you choose which field comes first. With really difficult video, I have to turn to MeGUI running on Windows via VMWare Fusion. Too bad, because it's obviously quite a bit slower than Handbrake running natively on a Mac.

Is there anyway to make Handbrake work with an Elgato Turbo.264? I know that the Tiger version can't do it, but I'm not sure about the Leopard version. While I would like the encoding process to be quicker, I mainly just want to be able to use my MacBook while it encodes DVDs as well as not worry about it overheating.
