Sounds like a game I played circa 1983 that loaded from a cassette. I distinctly remember jumping off a cliff: weeeeeeeeee........ Splat.

This is great news. I'm a huge fan of Interactive Fiction.

Cheers

I realized I must have played too much of these games growing up when I assumed Frotz was going to be another flashlight application.

Prior to iPhone OS 2.1, you could use one of the file transfer apps (like MobileFinder or File Magnet) to do so. However, Apple broke this ability in 2.1, so now, the only way I know of to do it is to upload your files to a public web site, then access that site through the in-game browser.
You'll find instructions on how to do that near the bottom of the Frotz support page:

"upload your files to a public web site"
Or a private one... every Mac has "Web Sharing" built in. Just turn it on, put the files in your account's "Sites" folder, then access them through http://myip/~myaccount/myfile.z (eg. http://192.168.1.2/~samkass/zork.z) over your home wireless network.

< give paper to editor.
The editor takes the sheet of paper, reads it... rolls his eyes and walks out the door. You are alone.
< turn off desklamp
The lamp is off. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Thanks! Feel stupid now that I didn't see that before, but now I can xfer my games over to Frotz. btw web sharing on the mac worked, so I didnt have to upload the files to a public server.

Sorry, meant to write "publicly-accessible" web server, not "public" web server (where "publicly-accessible" means you can get to it :) ). Mac sharing works great, as you pointed out (especially when you're at home on the same network; if you're traveling, though, you may find your ISP and/or your router block inbound requests on port 80, the web sharing port.)

I've been using Frotz for a few weeks now. It's great! Finally, we're back to games where I can keep pace with the action.

I though iPhone apps were not allowed to run third party code, meaning no emulators, no interpreters, no virtual machines…
