So how does one calibrate their iPhone or touch accurately to display these colours?
Seems a little silly really.

garyl,
It's apparent that you didn't try the app. It is as far from silly as you can get. I can see every designer using this.
I've been working with a very fussy client on a website. We just couldn't come to an agreement on the colors. She loves green, Today, I was in her office and she pointed to her sweater and said that was the color she wanted.
I pulled out the iphone and opened Color Expert. I took a picture of her sweater, selected the green I thought she would like and showed her the analogous colors based on that selection and she was excited as those were the colors she wanted.
This will probably become one of my most used apps on the iphone as it's going to make my life a lot easier when working with clients as they'll see exactly what they are going to get both in web and print.
So, call it silly, but I think it's great!

I agree w/DreamweaverMM. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate to be useful. If it gets you in the ballpark, you can tweak from there. Now, if we were talking about some kind of press-check tool, that's different :)

Quite true. For casual color choices I prefer the Colorpedia iPhone app.
