Another cool thing about GasBag is the log book where you can record your gas purchases and it will track your fuel efficiency (milage).

I'm glad it's not just me that has problems with MyGasWars. Initially, I thought it didn't even work in the UK but I was assured by the dev that it did. Only one of the prices that I submitted actually made it through - the rest still haven't appeared after a couple of weeks.
I guess what I'm really annoyed about is the fact that these apps look really good but are absolutely no use at all in the UK although iGas said they are hoping to eventually get the app working for over here.

Yea, I mentioned it briefly in passing -- it is handy.

None of these apps are very good. Without a way to submit corrections or remove imaginary gas stations, most of these fall flat on their faces...

You can make corrections by submitting a new price. As for fake stations -- perhaps it's a problem elsewhere, but I didn't find any in my testing of any of the apps.

It's kind of funny. In MGW, within about a five mile stretch of empty preserve land the app shows four fake stations. I don't know if they're mis-entered addresses or if it's intentional.

There are also stations which are missing from the services, which these programs do allow you to enter new ones, but I really just want to use it, not be a participant in it.

I don't see myself driving by gas stations in my area and then stopping in order to safely enter updated information. Without somebody doing that, the apps aren't very accurate or useful in the long run.

The best accuracy will be found with the iGas, as it doesn't use user-provided information. However, there are issues with the program, as noted in the review. Unfortunately, those issues make the program much less useful than it could be, and to me, not as good as GasBag. If future updates fix these problems, then iGas would definitely move up the list -- using a for-pay database has its advantages.

It's too bad that nobody is using the existing databases used by some of the sites doing this as they get many more users than iPhone apps do...

I've reverted to using a website to get information about gas prices as I got fed up with the lack of information in MyGasWars. The dev wanted me to get him more support in the UK but surely that's his job. Given the high gas prices in the UK, an app that actually worked in this country would be very popular.
