they are so f-ing petty
its a program...i wish they would just let this app on the store and we can get back to the real news stories like..."the brick" "the new macbooks" etc...
its getting close to the time the app store/apple gets sued for its blatant use of its monopoly of iphone apps...and the idiotic approval process...its insane for the devs to spend all the time and money to create these apps and apple just kicks them in the nuts and says too bad...and we dont have to tell you why...
i love apple but they are really dropping many balls when it comes to this iphone/app store launches

While Apple's updates have broken jailbreaks, it doesn't appear that Apple's main mission is to stop it. Should enough applications become available via jailbreak to the point where Apple feels threatened (and Apple would have to deny a hell of a lot of useful applications for that to happen, IMO), maybe they'll devote more attention to it, but it hardly seems worth the effort to stop something like Podcaster. It's not like it's taking money out of either AT&T or Apple's pockets.

This is something that Apple has explained to the satisfaction of only those who bend themselves into knots trying to justify this kind of behavior.

Glad the dev is continuing his efforts to get his program into peoples hands, but how sad is it that he needs to resort to such backstreet tactics to do it.
If Apple has some real reasons for denying this app entry to the Store, and no, the explanation they gave doesn't make sense to anyone who isn't fully ensconced in Jobs' RDF, then they should be transparent about it. At least as much as they can be. If they plan on expanding the podcast feature on the iPhone/touch in the future to include this, why is it such a big deal to mention this? They don't need to provide any details. Its not like being able to d/l podcasts on the go will be the main feature of any new iPhone software or version or something. I just don't get the deceit from Apple around this.

I'm sorry for Podcaster, but I'm not going to jailbreak my iPhone. For my needs and habits, using iTunes on the Mac to download podcasts then syncing them on the iPhone is enough anyway.
