well so much for my investment in fire wire equipment unless I "go pro." I really don't understand this one -- the equipment's still available, it's still superior, and how much can a port add to the price of the machine?
I've noticed some signs of Apple doing less segmentation, i.e., forcing us to spend hundreds to move up to get one or two minor bits we want, but in this, I see the tendency still alive and well.
otherwise pretty nice looking/sounding machines with significant real upgrades 'da competition mostly has no match for.

Why does the MBP have only a glossy display choice? If that's the only option, it should have an anti-reflective coating. Also, we need speed and battery life figures for all the hard drive choices. I would like the SSD, but not if it isn't faster and less of a powersuck than all of the spinners...

Why would macbook take away the firewire port? Did they add a USB port to make up the difference? Of course not. That would have made too much sense. It's not tacky to have more than 2 usb ports. Yes you can add a usb expander/multiplier, but that's money and added bulk when you can have it integrated already into a $1-2,000 laptop.
Looks like I'lll keep the old macbook.

Jason, thanks for your detailed coverage, which was by far the best out there yesterday, IMHO. Curious about the mechanics of how you were able to provide such detailed coverage, including quotes throughout. Without giving away trade secrets, can you fill us in? Were you using voice recognition software connected to the press feed from the audio console in the auditorium somehow?
Thanks again for the great coverage!

Jason's probably on a plane right now, so I'll fill you in on the secret—he types very fast :) Seriously, he's just sitting at the event and typing quickly as things happen.

Jason you did great "Live Blogging" from the event, especially also because I believe you were working it alone. The refresh rate of the page was slow and mostly I was doing it myself.
I have never tried Twitter before, but I decided to give it a try because you were also using Twitter for the event.
I wasn't so impressed with that, may you had too much to do? The Twitter was more useful after you had finished the "Live Blogging" Thanks,
