What about the Vaja cases? Yes, they're pricy, but this is a review of "luxury" leather cases. I've used a Vaja iVolution Top for my 1st gen iPhone for the past 9 months. Nothing else compares.

These are leather, yes, but nothing here really qualifies as "luxury."

I have the Ultraslim pouch and it's awesome. There were a few weeks of a snug fit, but ultimately it takes the shape of the phone. You can't really get any case that adds as little bulk. It's a godsend to anyone who just carries their phone around in their pocket.
I still recommend getting some form of "skin" protection. Like and other case, a few spec's of dirt, etc. can get in the case and the sliding in and out of the sleeve can leave some tiny scratches.

I use the C.E.O. Sleeve and love it. The reason why is that I also use the Speck hard shell case, and the CEO Sleeve accommodates both. With the elastic band able to expand slightly, it fits very nicely, secure but not too snug and I can remove it easily. I wouldn't call it 'luxury' though. The Vaja I have for my first iPhone, now THAT is luxury.

This article isn't an exhaustive look at this type of case. We publish a roundup of 3 or 4 cases nearly every week.

No review of luxury leather cases is complete without Piel Frama (www.pielframa.es). They have been doing hand-made PDA cases for years, and they have a huge range of different models, colors, etc. Their stuff is really well thought-out and very robustly constructed... not to mention GORGEOUS! Expensive? Sure. But worth it? Definitely. I've ordered about 10 different cases from them over the years, and they never disappoint. Opening a box from them is like Christmas morning every time one arrives.
