While I was so disappointed with version 1, I am actually very pleased with the update 1.2
Actually, when I tried version 1, I found that the bugs were a deal breaker, and I was disappointed that I had spent so much money to something that I could not use for my work. Therefore, I stopped using version 1 and waited for version 1.2.
I am pleased to say that version 1.2 fulfils all my needs. In my job, but the last decade, I have used dictation and had it typed by a secretary. I am confident that I can now use MacSpeech Dictate for the same purpose.
By the way, this entire e-mail was dictated by a MacSpeech Dictate version 1.2. It only made several errors in one sentence. I think that's not too bad.

I just received my new Macbook Pro. I previously purchased iListen for my older notebook, and threw it in the garbage can.
After reading the report on Mac Speech, I put out lots of bucks to get it.
The program crashed immediately - upon entering the profile screen, it just quit. I do not know what version I have since the program grayed out the menu bar items. I suppose it is new since it was just purchased and says 10.5x on the box.
I am more than disappointed in this program - I would like the program that was evaluated. Must be a different version than I have.

Well, you can start off with highlighting the application and pressing cmd-i. This will bring up the get info window that should tell you the version you have installed. You might also want to go to the company website and download the update and update your installed version - just to make sure you have the latest and greatest. Also, make sure you have your system updated, too.
It works. Honest.

Thanks for your advice. I didnt think of the get info command; I have 1.01 version.
I will get in touch with the macspeech people to try to sort it out. Unfortunately, on start up there is no way to update the program that I can see since all of the menu items are grayed out. Going to the site does not have a download button or means to merely download; appears you need to to do it from the program, which of course is not far enough in the install cycle to allow it.
Just sort of frustrating, especially after having been highy disappointed with iListen.
Thanks again for your suggestions.

I am a previousDragon Naturally Speaking user, so your comments regarding these types of users are correct.
I havent been able to upgrade to 1.2 as I havent as yet heard back from the manufacturer how to do this.
I certainly look forward to experiencing your comments on how 1.2 performs. Thanks for your comment ..... Well written review BTW.
