Apple updates MobileMe with over 25 fixes

As a MobileMe user from launch week, I was one of the lucky few to be unaffected by the serious launch issues that plagued so many others. Since then, Apple has made great progress and has done a good job of fixing most of the major issues but there is still a lot that could/should be done.
While MobileMe has always been worth the money for me, here are some things remaining on my wish list that would take the service over the top.
1. Push services from a Windows or Mac computer (as opposed to 15 min sync)
2. The ability to subscribe to calendars on an iPhone/iPod Touch.
3. Support for Notes and To Do push syncing for the iPhone/iPod Touch (finally?)
4. An option to remain logged in permanently (right now the option to stay logged in for 2 weeks at a time doesn't even work).
5. The ability to send mail from another email account alias (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
6. General speed improvements when using iDisk (and the "You-Send-It" style email feature Apple promised)
That's all I can think of for the moment. Apple has come a long way with MobileMe but I hope they don't the innovation now. With some added optimization and new features, it could finally become a phenomenal service that I can recommend to all my friends...

I still get a 40 percent failure rate when using web mail with the famous "Web mail not available, we are working on the problem."
Worst $99 I ever spent...
Loses contacts constantly, and has very slow email delivery times...
Don't get me started on iDisk... you can handwrite a document out on paper faster than you can transfer a file.
With the over 1 million subscribers Apple says to have with MobileMe, you'd think they would pay someone to answer a phone rather than send canned emails for every support instance.

"I was one of the lucky few"
Me too. The only service that did not work for me was Back to My Mac, and that has been working perfectly for quite a while now. I use my web hosting space on Mobile Me to host my website with a domain registered at GoDaddy. Was amazed at how easy that was to configure. There are good ideas there, it's really too bad that so many people have had issues with it. Could have been a stellar product offering for Apple had they gotten it right the first time.

MobileMe is awful. I have had nothing but problems since day one. Getting mail is slow and I am using a T1 at work. iDisk is horribly slow, even on the T1. I have to make several attempts just to log in to get my mail. Using Mail app is so much faster. Once the extension expire I will not be using this service again. I thought it was bad when it was .Mac but this is stupid. Very bad for Apple to have a product so terrible.
Just logging in takes forever, as an example, I waited the amount of time it took me to type the above paragraph just to wait for the login authentication. Terribly SLOW.

iDisk, part of MobileMe, is Apple's WORST product. It's so unbelievably unprofessional as to make me want to laugh if it weren't so painful to use. iDisk is slow on a good day. It's unreliable, prone to dropping uploads because it just feels like it, won't let you log into one public folder while letting you into others, taking forever just to get into a directory. Upload speeds are abysmal.
Is Apple even remotely aware of how bad iDisk is???

So,
HANDS DOWN, I completely concur with your first 3 suggestions/comments, as I really really hope many others do - and further, have taken the time to offer suggestions to Apple about these issues.
Also troubling to me is the color coded calendars; or lack there of - at least appropriately colored. I understand that to some this might not be a big deal at all. But considering the ease of use that Apple's entire platform and product line is built around, we get very use to certain things, and quite honestly what makes some features so user friendly, is that at some point they quickly become habitual/reflexive in nature. And so it is the case with the color coded calendars that I've been using in iCal for the past 5 years. Now all of a sudden iPhone comes along and completely throws off my reflexive nature to color coded events, by choosing what ever darn color it feels for certain calendars!
Not cool!

I still use my iDisk, but I never access t through the Finder, Apple's "official" method. I don't have all day to spend just trying to copy a file or two up or down from my iDIsk- yes, the speed is THAT bad.. I have a copy of Transmit 3, which has built in connectivity to iDisk, and it works waaay better. Much faster and more reliable.
What this tells me is that its not the tech behind iDisk that is abysmal, its the implementation of connection in the Finder.
If you don't have a copy of Transmit, there is an ancient app, built way back in the OS 9 days and then updated early on for OS X, called Goliath, that still works for accessing an iDisk, even on Leopard. Its free, so its worth giving a shot.

.mac / MobileMe has worked reasonably well for me. There are small issues with the "cloud" as they put it. All I ask for is a consistent sync between Mail at the office, at home, by browser and on my iPodTouch. Right now the only issue is how mail folders are working. There's some sync but not complete as some folders do not appear in each place. And the rules do not get implemented consistently either. Right now an e-mail that gets put into a special folder on this computer is in two places on my iPod. Not a big deal but clumsy to experience.
iDisk has been a problem. I would ask for a special iDisk manager that has administrator control over the iDisk space. Too often I have erased large files in the public folder only to have it reloaded from the MobileMe server or from one of the computers on the account. Connectivity has also been a problem but it seems to be a provider problem. My office is on DSL and there have been days where iDisk just can't connect right. At home I have a cable modem and have never had a problem. A place I frequently work at has a high speed DSL account and I never have a problem there.
Using Transmit is a good idea, I'll try it.
